Topic-icon Zoo integration with sourcecoast facebook for joomla

Hi there,

I have been testing out Zoo as an alternative to K2. I was also considering Easyblog. Both seem quite good, and K2 although good, is sometimes quite annoying, and I find the way that they ask users to write articles quite difficult.

Only time will tell which I prefer.

Anyway for now, is it possible to support both Easyblog and Zoo? I think you'd benefit from both, although I may not use both. Also... I saw you mention that we could integrate Zoo ourselves if the template was edited. Is it possible to have tutorial or some instructions on that please?

Thanks.
Eoin

Eoin,
Our easy-tags ({JFBCLike}, {SCGooglePlusOne}, etc) do make it very easy to add the tags to any extension. We're always considering new extensions to support natively, but as you've noted, we currently don't support EasyBlog or Zoo. We're planning a new plugin system that will make adding support for other extensions easier in the future, but it won't be ready for some time.

Unfortunately, I don't know EasyBlog or Zoo well enough to guide you through their template systems. If you know what file you'd need to edit in their components, we can gladly help you with the tags you'd need to add. However, we simply don't know every extension or each's structure in a way that we could provide a guide for all of them.

Hope that makes sense. Wherever we can help with the JFBConnect functionality, we gladly will, so just let us know!

Thanks,
Alex

Cool, that sounds reasonable enough. I shall endeavour to proceed like that. Cheers.

Good luck, and let us know how it goes and which extension you eventually decide on!

I've used both, but I have a little beef with K2 as they are slow to respond to any sort of support requests. When I tried to help and support the community I got kicked out of their forum, they took a long time to reinstate me, with barely any communication. It's a free component, but at least let the community support its self!

That said it's still a good component, I just thought I'd test out Zoo and Easy blog as I prefer the way they let people write articles.

Absolutely understand where you're coming from. I don't know the Zoo developers, but I've talked with the EasyBlog folks before and they're really great (not saying the Zoo people aren't...). We're hoping later this year to work with them (and others) on some tighter integration between JFBConnect and their extension. No guarantees, but we're hopeful.

Either way, let us know what you prefer as it'd be good info, and if you need help with integration, just let us know. We'll do what we can!
