Alejahndro,
The Disable SSL Certificate Validation isn't for what you mention. That's for servers that are improperly configured or aren't up-to-date, and therefore, can't properly communicate with Facebook over SSL. I'd recommend re-enabling that.

As for the Insecure Content loading issues, that's usually caused when you're using one of the Facebook social widgets that loads user avatars. Facebook does not load user avatars over SSL, and there's no way in JFBConnect to get around that, unfortunately. There is some other content that Facebook loads insecurely, but that's the primary cause. I'd recommend trying to disable any Facebook modules you've enabled and see when the problem goes away. That will help narrow down the culprit. If you provide the URL for a page with the issue, we can investigate more as well.

The lines you mention above defining the namespace are not the problem. Namespace loading is not something that is loaded securely as it's merely a definition with information about the content of the page, no actual content.

Hope that helps explain,
Alex

Hello everyone. This is my first time using this components JFBConnet Joomla 2.5. I have the installation gone thru fine. But when I try displaying my facebook page I get the following error:

Secure Connection Failed
An error occurred during a connection to facebook.textqpon.com.
SSL received a record that exceeded the maximum permissible length.
(Error code: ssl_error_rx_record_too_long)
The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.
Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem. Alternatively, use the command found in the help menu to report this broken site.

I am using Joomla 2.5 running on a Goddady.com shared hosting account. I don't have a SSL certificate on my account
Can someone tell my why I get this error and how can I fix it please!!

To see the error go to: apps.facebook.com/callqpon/
Thanks for your help
Charles

Charles,
For the Page Tab or Canvas integration features of JFBConnect, you'll need a SSL certificate for your server. While some shared SSL certificates will work, most won't if they change the domain of your site. So, if you enabled a shared certificate and your URL for secure connections to something like yoursite.godaddy.com, that will not work. You'd need one that will work directly for your site.

If you haven't already gone through it, we recommend checking out our Facebook Page Tab and Canvas integration guide for Joomla . That will hopefully answer all your questions.

If you need more help or have any other issues, just let us know.

Thanks,
Alex

Alex,
Thanks for your reply to my msg. the test I am doing is on a sub-domain facebook.textqpon.com/
that iI have on a Godaddy.com shared hosting. I don't have a SSL certificate on that account.
Do I have to get a SSL certificate in order to use JFBConnect?
How can I text it without a SSL certificate on my share hosting?

Thanks for your help

To test, if you're the admin of the app and currently logged into Facebook, you can (usually) change the https in the apps.facebook.com/ to http and it will work. Sometimes, that trick doesn't work though.

Alternatively, you can go to your Account Settings in Facebook, click the Security tab and then disable "Secure Browsing". That will allow you to load any Facebook page over http.

The last one will work for any user with that disabled, but it's enabled by default, so not something you can rely on. You'll really want to get a dedicated SSL certificate once you're sure you want to use the Facebook Page Tab, Canvas or Request (which requires Canvas) features. All other functionality of JFBConnect doesn't require an SSL cert, including Login with Facebook, just so you know.

Hope that helps, and good luck!
Alex

No problem, and glad we could help! If you've never obtained an SSL certificate, we have a guide on how to do so:
SSL Certificates for Facebook
The company we reference there (The SSL Store) is who we use and recommend. We do get a minor affiliate commission if you use the links in that guide (disclaimer), but if you've never setup SSL, that guide should definitely help!

Good luck,
Alex
