Yes, SSL is required for the Requests system. Facebook Requests are initially sent to your 'Canvas' page on Facebook. The Canvas area requires an SSL certificate for security purposes, and there's no way around that. Once sent there, JFBConnect has the ability to redirect them to a website address outside of the Canvas, but they first have to connect to the Canvas for any of it to work.
