I am preparing to launch a new site called myeslcentral.com. I purchased JFBConnect a few weeks ago and wanted it for the sole purpose of having a box on the front page that would allow users to Like our FB page. I am using JomSocial for everything else.

When I installed JFBConnect, I got the "Find us on Facebook" box to display and that worked great, but it has destroyed my new user registration and login process.

Now, any time a user tries to login, it is redirecting them to this page myeslcentral.com/?Itemid=1. That is not an active page. It just pulls up a 404 - Component not found page.

Before installing JFBConnect, I was using RocketTheme and JomSocial login modules and it was working fine / perfectly. JFBConnect has broken both of them. So now, new users cannot login to the site.

Please let me know how I can disable this or fix this issue.

Thank you,
Colt

Colt,
If you just want the Fan box, but don't want to use the login functionality of JFBConnect, you should:
* Make sure you do not enable the SCLogin module - That will use JFBConnect's login functionality
* Do not use the {JFBCLogin} tag anywhere - Again, that utilizes JFBConnect's login functionality
* Set Automatically Log Facebook Users in to "No" in the JFBConnect Configuration settings.

All of those settings will pretty much disable our login functionality while allowing you to use the other 'social' features. If you disable those things and still have issues, please let us know and we can then look at the site to determine what else may be a problem.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex,

Thank you so much for the reply. I'm starting to panic a little that the site is not working. I followed your steps, but unfortunately, it is still not working. I'm attaching a screenshot to show the SCLogin module has been disabled.
File Attachment:

I cleared my cache and tried the site again and it is not working. If you would like to test it, follow these steps:

1. go to myeslcentral.com
2. for the username, enter: smehra
3. for the password, enter: password11

You will be redirected to this page myeslcentral.com/?Itemid=1 (which is a 404 error page).

I do not know how or where to fix that. The login on the homepage is the login module for JomSocial or you can use the login button in the top right part of the page (that is a RocketTheme module). Both will forward you to that 404 error page. I have dug into the configuration settings of both JomSocial and RocketTheme and it is set up correct. It is support to send you to the Profile page that is part of JomSocial, but for some reason it is sending users to this Itemid=1 page.

Please let me know if you can help. If we need to set up a skype or IM, that is OK with me. It is critical that I get this working soon.

Thanks in advance for your support!

Colt,
Do you have a plugin called "jomsocialredirect" installed on your site? That isn't part of JFBConnect, but I'm recalling that that plugin has caused the Itemid=1 issue for other users.

I didn't realize you were saying this was from standard username/pass login (not Facebook login). The suggestions above are still correct, but the issue is different than I thought.

Please try disabling that plugin if you have it enabled and let us know if that helps.

Thanks,
Alex

yay! yay! yayyyy!!! Thank you SOOO much Alex. That was it. Sorry for blaming it on JFBConnect. It was the jomsocialredirect plugin. As soon as I disabled it, the login function is working now.

And, my page is still displaying the Find us on Facebook JFBC mod, so I think i'm all set. If I have new questions, I will post them.

Thanks again for the outstanding support!

Colt,
No problem for the support, even on a Saturday night (here, at least). That's what your subscription is for! I guess it's a good thing JFBConnect gets blamed for a lot of issues that aren't really caused by us... it helped get you an answer even quicker! :)

Should you need anything else, just let us know. Finally, after your site is all setup, if you have some time, please consider leaving a rating and review for JFBConnect or our support on the Joomla Extension Directory. It's certainly not required, but very appreciated:

Thanks, and good luck!
Alex
