I logged into Facebook Developer (first time I ever heard about this) and tried to create a new app, but I don't feel confident about the data I'm providing -- and at the last step it asks for a mobile phone or credit card info. What's up with that?

Also, I'm doing this for a school website, wanting to use the Facebook Group page for JFBConnect . . . not my personal Facebook page.

I'm a newbie - just point me in the direction of some detailed PDF or online tutorial. :)

Also, I didn't see any ability to search the Forum. It might be that this question has been asked and answered before. If so, I apologize for asking it again . . . it's just that I couldn't see how to search for a previous posting.

Ach. Sorry. I DID find out how to do an Advanced Search on this Forum (see tab, duh) and I also found a link on one of the SourceCoastt pages leading to this:

But I still have to figure out the part about mobile phone / credit card . . . and to learn how to point to the school's Facebook account and mot my personal pages.

The phone number / credit card is simply a verification step from Facebook to ensure you're a person and not a spammer. There is no charge for creating an application on Facebook.

The Application itself must be created by a user (your profile or someone else at the school). Once created though, it's it's own independent 'thing' on Facebook. It's not directly associated with a Facebook Page. However, you can use some tools including the Like button or the Fan Module (both part of JFBConnect) to reference your Fan Page and get Likes or users to that site as well.
