Hey there!
I really need help with this: Facebook Profile Import into Joomla K2!! PLEASE!

The website where I'm using this feature is www.PeopleNJ.com
I installed everything on the site but I have no clue of how to get the information of my visitors when they use Facebook to register on my site. How can I get their emails, names, etc?

I bought JFBConnect v4.2 because I really need to get the information of my visitors without asking them to register on my sit. Obviously, people rather to register with their facebook profiles so that, they don't have to fill up the registration form. However I tried to "log in using Facebook" and it showed a pop up window from facebook, after I clicked on accept it sent me to the log in form from my website, which is not the point.

How do I get this working properly? I'd appreciate all your help!

In the JFBConnect configuration area, change the "Registration Flow" setting to "Automatic Registration". That will skip all forms and pull in user information automatically.

Hope that helps!

Am I in the right place? Is that where I'm supposed to change the settings?
I also tried "modules" and "extension/manager" but I didn't see anything either =(

In the Administration area of your site, go to "Components -> JFBConnect". Then, go to the "Configuration" section. There's a lot of settings and configuration options in there.

You can also use this URL:
administrator/index.php?option=com_jfbconnect&controller=config

It shouldn't be necessary to get to it through the URL. However, I know you mentioned that the there was an "Error building Admin Menus". It's possible you're just not seeing all of the admin menus for JFBConnect. They are all visible though when you go to the URL above.

Hope that helps,
Alex

Ok, first of all I used this link because the menu never showed up although I reinstalled the whole thing.
administrator/index.php?option=com_jfbconnect&controller=config

I kinda figured out the thing with the comments but the "LOG IN WITH FACEBOOK" still does not work. You can try it on my website! I used the "Automatic Registration" that you told me to use, but it didn't work either.

But I noticed something... after I "logged in using FB" the website redirected me to the registration form and it showed an error saying "The words you typed did not match the ones displayed. Please try again." which I think is related to the captcha from Joomla. I'm not sure about this but I'm guessing that's what's happening. The sad part is that I couldn't find that either so I need your great help once again.

Thank you Alex!

Since you were using Joomla 1.7, which had quite a few bugs, you're dealing with some of those from upgrading now, unfortunately.

The captcha issue is a known problem after upgrading. Can you go to your Global Configuration and check the "Default Captcha" setting. Try changing it to "None Selected". If it's already at that, change it to something else (if available), save, and then then switch it back to None Selected". Save again.

Then, go to the User Manager and hit "Parameters". Do the same thing there for the "Captcha" setting there.

Hope that helps,
Alex

Hey Alex! I think it's working now, however I'd like to give you some feedback since you have helped me soooooo much through this process! :)

I never saw anything related to captcha under the "Global Configuration" area... there's nothing related to captcha there. However I went to the parameters of K2 and under the advanced tab I disabled the "reCaptcha" section.

By mistake I had installed the JFCB Kunena and the JFCB JomSocial plugins and that created an error. So after I read the error message I saw something about Kunena and JomSocial. As I said I'm not a programmer but my intuition told me: "maybe you installed them and you have to turn them off"... lol...
After I disabled those plug ins it finally worked. Maybe this could be helpful for other users so I just wanted to let you know.

So far I think everything is working good! Thanks for all your help, patience and time!
PS: If I have any other issue I'll let you know :)

Thanks again!

Awesome to hear that it sounds like its going! Thank you for the feedback on K2 captcha. That was an excellent catch!

As for the other profile plugins being installed, when they shouldn't be, yeah, that's a problem. We're working on a better notification to let users know they may have enabled them when they shouldn't have. Sorry for the confusion.

Anyways, very glad to hear things are moving for you now, and hope the process wasn't *too* painful :) There's a lot to JFBConnect, and we're always working to make it more simple, but there's always more to do.

If you do run into anything else, just let us know. Also, if you ever have any feedback on features or other improvements, we'd love to hear them!

Thanks,
Alex
