Hi there, just updated to 4.2 on a 2.5 website, all good. But when I tried to install the promising looking 'alphauserpoints' extension in the zip I get an error message...
JInstaller: :Install: Cannot find Joomla XML setup file .
What do you think? Thanks in advance!

Kiwi,
Can you unzip the zip file and try to install each XML file individually? We should have labelled that file differently, but the the individual XML files should work.

Please let us know how that goes,
Alex

Kiwi,
Sorry for the troubles. Please check the thread below with a quick (hopeful) fix for the AUP rules:

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex, no luck with either idea sorry. I edited 'plugins' to 'plugin', rezipped, tried to install, and got this error ...
JInstaller: :Install: Cannot find Joomla XML setup file.

Then I tried to install each xml file separately using the installer (should I have zipped each xml file??), and got this...
Unknown Archive type

What do you think?

Kiwi,
You install AUP plugins though Alpha User Points, not the normal Joomla installer. Try going to AUP and click on plugins. Then, install the XML file I told you to edit.

Hope that helps, but if that's what you were doing, or it still doesn't work, just let us know!

Thanks,
Alex

Kiwi,
You install the XML files within the Alpha User Points component itself. Click on the "Plugins" icon from the main landing page of AUP and install the XML file there.

Then, in JFBConnect, go to the Social Configuration area, the "Misc" tab and then enable the Alpha User Points integration there.

Hope that helps,
Alex

Hi there, can't see any reference to AUP/Alpha User Points anywhere in my website sorry! How do I "Try going to AUP"??

Hmmm, I do have a plugin called Hikashop AlphaUserPoints. Maybe this is where your plugin has gone somehow??

Kiwi
Alpha User Points is a whole separate extension available at alphaplug.com. You'll need to have that installed and configured if you want to start awarding points for user actions. A lot of other extensions integrate with it, which would explain why Hikashop has it's own references to it.

Hope that helps explain. JFBConnect by itself has no point-system... we just use AUP to award points, and AUP takes care of them.

Okay, alphauserpoints component installed, and your xml files (modified from 'plugins' to 'plugin') installed.

All good and underway again. Meanwhile, back at the farm, ... :=D
