Pseudo-Joomla user was created by hoisau
I am trying to pick between the Full Joomla User and Facebook User Only settings. Please help me decide.

The thing that caught my eye is that when you choose Facebook User Only, it creates a "pseudo-Joomla user".
What exactly does this mean?

I am going to have Facebook Login be the only option to log into any part of my site. But at the same time, I want Joomla to create a user on the backend for me under User Manager. Will the creation of a "pseudo-Joomla user" fulfill this? The reason I need this is because I will be using my facebook account as the editor of my site through the front end, and the editor is specified by user ID number through the backend.

Facebook User Only is the option you want. It does create a completely standard Joomla user that any other component will see and treat normally.

In the v4.2 release due out next week, we've actually changed the name of that setting to be clearer. The new setting name will be "Registration Flow" and the options will be "Normal Registration" and "Automatic Registration". The Auto reg is the same as Facebook User Only, where the account will be created automatically without any forms.

Hope that helps,
Alex

so I can see that JFBConnect does in fact create a Joomla user on the backend when I select Facebook User Only.

I am using my own facebook to test the funcationality of JFBConnect on my site, and I trying to get the option to allow my site to get my credentials again. I deleted my user in the user manager and through the JFBConnect component. However, when I click to log in, it just automatically re-makes my accounts and lets me in without asking permission for my credentials. What do I do to get the app to ask for permission again?

Also, in the future, if I add a social plugin and want JFBConnect to pull additional information to fill up the social profile, will a new permission for credentials be issued to facebook users already a member of my site?

Thank you

To see the login credentials again, you have to remove the application from your Facebook account. In Facebook.com, go to Account Settings -> Apps, and then click the 'x' next to your application. That will force the credential check again (even if you don't delete the user from Joomla first).

As for future credentials.. if you add a profile plugin and import info from their profile, it will most likely require a new permissions confirmation when the user tries to login next. There are some profile fields which don't require extra permissions, so it may not be required. However, most fields require some permissions, and in that case, the box will appear on the next login only. Each field has different types of permissions for 'basic' and 'extended' information. You'll have to test with the fields you want to import and the resulting login popup. Some fields can be skipped by the user, but still allow them to login your application/site, so it's not a horrible thing if you add a new popup later (the user can simply decline the new info).

Hope that explains,
Alex
