I've just started trying to set up some banners on my site with Joomla's built-in Banners component. I've found that placing a banner module in certain template positions causes problems with SCLogin. The banner displays just fine when logged out, but standard and Facebook logins with SCLogin result in either a blank page or a server 500 error, depending on the position of the banner module. I've tried this with a stripped-down banner that just displays an image -- not clickable, and with no impression or click tracking. The user is logged in, according to the back end control panel, but continues to get errors or blank pages on the site until logged out manually from the back end.

I'll send you a private message with my site details.

Keenmouse,
I just registered on your site and went into the admin area and enable the module in both top and bottom-content (the positions you mention in your PM that are problematic). In both places I never ran into an issue. Can you tell me if you're still having the issue, and if so, what browser and OS you're using? It shouldn't be browser related, but you never know.

Also, if you set Error Reporting in the Global Configuration area of Joomla to "Maximum", those white pages or 500 error pages may have a more descript message about what's going wrong. Let us know if you see anything different like that.

Thanks,
Alex

I was having so much difficulty troubleshooting earlier today that I started clearing Joomla's cache after every change I made. Now it seems that the problem I described happens immediately after clearing the cache. If I clear the cache, attempt to log in, get the error or blank page, and then manually log out from the back end, then it seems to work fine after that. Is there supposed to already be something in the cache? Maybe the NoNumber cache cleaner extension is causing the problem.

Well, thank you for your help as usual. This seems to be just a quirk that I should be able to easily work around.

Hello,
try disabling the cache completely and see if those errors could be fixed. Enable the cache back on only after they are solved.
you might want to try the debug feature inside the Joomla General Settings.

if you have any trouble solving those errors, please post a link to your website and/or attach some screen shots so we might be able to help you out.

Mati

The problem still occurs with cache disabled. With error reporting enabled, this error is the last thing that appears when I click to log in:
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare BannersParseRoute() (previously declared in /home2/keenvill/public_html/poetry/components/com_quicklogout/router.php:40) in /home2/keenvill/public_html/poetry/components/com_banners/router.php on line 69

By Googling that error, I was able to find this, which indicates a bug in the Quick Logout extension I'm using:

joomlacode.org/gf/project/joomla/tracker...racker_item_id=27186

It turns out there is a new version of the extension that resolves the issue, but it only seems to be available here in this Joomla Forums post:

forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?p=2758643#p2758643

It's not available at the extension's home here:

joomlacode.org/gf/project/com_quicklogout/

Thanks again for your help. This one was a real pain to figure out!
