Hi,

I have installed JFBConnect and it works quite well - thank you, it saved a lot of work for me, compared to doing all that from scratch.

I published my site by moving it from www.domain.com/test/ to www.domain.com.

Somehow JFBCRecommendations module shows invalid URLs, possibly due to this path change.

How can I make it reindex the articles in my Joomla site, to get rid of invalid links?

Regards,
-e

Hello,
you should follow the Configuration Guide to set the URLs to the right path, but mainly you should set the FB APP to the new PATH.
this has nothing to do with reindexing the articles.

change those paths and let us know if that helped.
if not, please post a link to your website so we could have look and help you out.

Hi Mati,

I did follow the instructions provided.

URL to the site is www.reservilainen.fi - pls take a look and if you have any hints, this would be helpful.

Hi Mati,

yes they are, the list looks good but just hte links point to wrong places.

There were pathname changes and also article category name changes, maybe they have affected the module?

Is there anyway to "reindex"?

Eki

Hello Eki,
the reindex you are talking about is a responsibility of FB, which unfortunately non of us can control.
but first, you should ask yourself: is there anything missing?
if not, then there's nothing to 'reindex'.

Eki,
There's no way to tell Facebook to re-index your site. The recommendations are based off who has Like'd certain pages on your site in the past and whether Facebook thinks the current user (or guest) would like something similar. Unfortunately, that also means if you have a lot of Like's for a page, and then change the URL, the 'old' page will still be recommended.

The only way to fix this and notify Facebook of the change is to setup a redirection from the old content to the new content. Fortunately, Joomla 2.5 has a 'redirection' component. You can use that to specify the old URL and new URL. Facebook will follow the redirection and your recommendations will start to work again.

Hope that helps. It's annoying, but the same thing goes with search engines. When you update your URL structure, it's always best to redirect the old content to the new content so the automated tools of search engines and Facebook can find them again.

Thanks,
Alex
