All other browsers

I'm using IE9 and I can see the FB comments on that page.
does the problem happen with a different template (maybe try one of the built-in joomla template).

The issue does not exist with IE9. It is working with all browsers except IE7 and IE8. I do not know about the default template. The template that is loaded is the one we would prefer to use. We are a small non-profit organization and are not able to develop a website on our own, hence the template.

I have since installed JFBC to the default template(on a fresh joomla install w/ new DB), and again, it is working in all browsers except IE7 and IE8.

These are NIPRNet machines and apparently the way the Facebook button and comment box are called are not permitted. Does JFBConnect allow for a native html option to be automatically included?

Rauch,
No, Facebook doesn't have a method to show the Like button or Comment box in HTML only mode. They have a way you can include the tag using HTML, but that only works in IE9. Additionally, that HTML tag is eventually translatted (by Javascript) into an iFrame like the current way JFBConnect does it.

In either case, I think those widgets simply won't work if you're behind a service that won't allow them. They will work for anyone else, but you'd need to have a sysadmin loosen the restrictions to have that portion of the Facebook integration function how you want.

Thanks,
Alex

Thank you for the explanation. Unfortunately changing security parameters is not an option. If you ever come across a html method that would be compatible with DoD machines, please let us know.

Thank you

We're always looking into more ways to enable compatibility. Unfortunately, this is something that Facebook would have to fix. There are many different types of networks that block Facebook for one reason or another. Over the last few years, they have done a good job of working around these limitations (when they aren't intentionally meant to disable Facebook). It's possible they'll release something that will fix this as well, but we're limited in some ways by the functionality we provide.

Best of luck,
Alex
