Community Builder Login Using Email

My Joomla/community builder is set to allow only login by email since I need to sync to another app which only allows login by email. The current SC Login module is set for login by username. I can use the CB login module for login (which is also nicely formated for horizontal) and use the JFB Connect custom tag for Facebook login but te problem here is that logout then does not logout users who have logged in with facebook.
It would be better to amend the SCLogin process which I can then reformat for horizontal.
Just need some pointers as to what I need to change to achieve login by email.

SCLogin is set to Community Builder and it does not login with the correct email and password credentials. It does login with the username. Please let me know if you need me to upload to a stage site for you to look at but obviously I would prefer not to publish details on open forum.

sorry for not being clear:
my question was if the link does actually goes to the CB Registration or maybe by mistake to Joomla's (or other).

Sorry for being a bit dense. Its early in the morning!!! Yes clicking on the register link takes you to the CB registration

would it be possible to get a link to the website to investigate the problem a little deeper?

just got your site details and I have tested a new registration.
I can agree the email login does not work, but it was just tested on another live site where it does work.

could you please tell us what do you have set in: CB -> Configuration -> General (Tab) -> Login field type?
if you have something other than email then try setting it to email and see if that solves the issue.

I have pm'd a screen shot of the settings. The other login form top right is the CB login form which you can test with email address. The JFB login form on the left hand side only works with username.
