I have published the JFBCSubscribe module, public, on all pages.

However, I only see the intro text, not the picture with link I would expect. Layout style is set to standard.
Could this be because of an incorrect setting "Profile URL to subscribe to"?

Is there any documentation on the module settings anyway? The documentation only shows live modules but nothing about the settings.

Thanks,
Menno

Menno,
I apologize sincerely for the lengthy delay in getting back to this post. We pride ourselves on support, and actually go back periodically to make sure that no posts were missed. Unfortunately, yours seems to be one.

I'm not sure if you're still having issues with the subscribe button.. but if so, I'll help however I can. First, yes, if the profile URL is incorrect, the module may not display. Facebook changes it's behavior as to whether an error will show or nothing will show depending on whether the profile URL doesn't exist, if it's banned, etc. We'd definitely recommend trying with a different profile URL to see if that changes the behavior.

If that doesn't help narrow things down, then can you let us know if the other social widgets don't show (Login button, Like button, etc). If they all don't show, that's a sign that the Facebook Javascript library is not properly being loaded on the page.

Please let us know if you're still having issues with this, or anything else, and we'll do what we can to help. Again, sorry for the delays, and best of luck to you and your site,
Alex

Hi,
I worked on other parts of my site so sorry for my late response but, yes, I still have the same problem.

The like module works fine but the subscribe module stays empty (except title and powered by)
I have set the Profile URL to subscribe to www.facebook.com/menno.malta
(This is my own facebook profile, just to test, in the end this will be a facebook group.)

See an example (botom of page): nieuw.tvmarkant.nl/index.php/2012-03-15-.../65-openingstoernooi

I hope you can help me.

thanks,
Menno

Menno,
Just did some research and found out 2 things. First, you need to allow subscribers to your profile. You can do this by clicking the "Subscriptions" link from your own profile and at the top of the next page should be a question asking:

Want Subscribers of Your Own?
Now you can include more people in your public updates, without adding them as friends.

Make sure you've enabled that and the button should work.

Unfortunately, the subscribe button only works for Profiles. I don't believe it will work for Groups. Groups, in general, don't have a lot of features. Facebook widely recommends you move groups to "Fan Pages", which can user's can Like.. which is similar to subscribing. I don't believe there are any similar widgets for user's to Like or Subscribe to a Group, just so you know.

Hope that helps, and good luck!
Alex

Thanks, this was indeed the cause of the problem.

Glad to hear that was it! Should you need anything else, just let us know!

Finally, if you haven't already, please consider leaving a rating and review for JFBConnect on the Joomla Extension Directory. It's certainly not required, but very appreciated:

Thanks,
Alex
