Thanks for adding the new Request feature to JFBConnect. I'm excited to start implementing it.
I followed the instructions on this site to try sending my first request but nothing seems to happen once the request is sent. I created it, saved it and then clicked send to all users. Then I click "ok" on the "are you sure" pop up dialog. I've given it 20 minutes since the instructions say to just wait until it says all messages are sent, but no indication is shown that anything has or is happening. Am I missing something?
Thanks.

First, we'd definitely recommend testing by sending a request to just one user first. That way you can make sure it sends, comes through properly, etc. You can send to individual users by going to the User Map section, selecting the user and hitting "Send Request".

As for why it's stalling, that's usually caused if you haven't set your migration settings properly. Please make sure in your Facebook application that the following settings are enabled in the Settings -> Advanced area:
Requests 2.0 Efficient: Enabled
Upgrade to Requests 2.0: Enabled

If that doesn't work, let us know.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi thanks for the reply.
Making those changes did allow a request to be sent according to JFConnect, but I'm not seeing anything within the Facebook profiles I sent it to. I sent it to two accounts I have access to to test it as per your suggestion. It should show up as a notification correct?

Facebook treats requests differently depending on if a user sent them or they were automated through an application:
* Friend requests show up with the jewel icon at the top.
* Application requests show up in the left hand side bar in the bookmarks area either with your app name or under the "Apps and Games" link. When you click into that, you should see your notification.

Hope that helps, but if it's still not there, let us know, and we'll help how we can.

Thanks,
Alex

Hmm, not seeing anything there either. I'm looking on the apps and games page under "Requests From Friends" I see some Family Tree requests but none from my site. Any other suggestions?
Does anything need to be done with the JFCBRequest module?

Can you post (or Private Message) your URL? We can register on your site and see if you can send it to us.

Just to make sure, when you send the request, does it say "Success" after you send it. Also, if you click the "See All" link in the request to see all the messages sent, do you see your request in there to the right user?

Thanks,
Alex

It says:
Send Complete!
Total Sent: 1
(1 Successful / 0 Fail)

In all I've sent three requests which are accurately listed.
The site is www.carnivaljunction.com

Many thanks for your time.

I'm just seeing this:
"Note: You must have a valid SSL certificate for your site and your canvas app must be correctly configured in order to successfully send requests."
As far as I know I don't have one of those and I don't use a canvas app. Would that be the problem?

Yes, that would definitely be the problem. All Facebook Requests are initially sent to your canvas application. From there, JFBConnect redirects them to the 'final' location. That's how Facebook works, and there's no way around that.

We're still finishing up the full documentation for the Canvas and Requests setup, but it will detail how to get each setup properly. The Canvas App really just requires a SSL certificate installed (so you can visit your site at site.com) and a destination set within your Facebook Application. If you want to get Requests going, I'd suggest working on getting the SSL certificate and then we can help you with the Canvas portion, if you have any questions. For getting an SSL certificate, you can check out our guide, which may help:

Hope that helps get you started,
Alex
