Hey Alex,

When a new user signs up via facebook on my website friendsurplus.com, I have it set to create a full joomla user. I also have it set to map required jomsocial registration fields.

So, after the new user clicks on "login with facebook" and chooses to allow my facebook app to access their info, it sends them to the com_jfbconnect/views/loginregister page to complete the jomsocial registration fields that are not automatically mapped from facebook.

That part of the process all works fine.

After the user fills in the required fields, the system verifies all of the data and creates the user account. If everything is okay, it displays a message that reads something to the effect of "facebook connection successfully completed" in a blue bar at the top of the page.

At this point, the new user has successfully created their account and should be redirected to my "welcome" page. I have this setting set in the jfbconnect configuration. However, the screen stays on the new user jomsocial registration page. All of the form fields are cleared out and the "successful" message is displayed at the top. The new user should not stay on this page but be redirected to the welcome page.

Any ideas on how I can fix this?

Forgot to mention I'm on jfbconnect version 4.0.1 and jfbclogin version 4.0.0 joomla 1.6 and jomsocial 2.2.

I can't tell, but it sounds like you're saying this happens all the time.. or is it random and sometimes does properly redirect for some users?

Things to check:
* You shouldn't have any User plugins that are meant to redirect the user after logging in. If you do, please disable them.
* If you are using an SEF extension (not core-Joomla's SEF), tell it to 'skip' JFBConnect URLs. Also, you may just want to try disabling it altogether as a quick test to see if that fixes it. If so, we can help you re-enable it without issues.

Finally, can you post (or private message) me a URL for your site, so we can go through the process and see what's going on?

Thanks for your reply, Alex.

I have the system redirect joomla plugin enabled, but I think that one should be fine.

I do not have any user redirect plugins enabled.

I do not use any SEF extensions (not even the core joomla one).

This happens every time someone tries to log in for the first time. The redirect for new users just isn't working at all.

My website URL is friendsurplus.com. If you could try to log in with Facebook and test it out, I'd appreciate it. Let me know if you need any back-end access and I'll be happy to get you what you need.

Ray,
Just registered on the site. Initially, after signing in, I'm directed to the following page, which is expected:

friendsurplus.com/index.php?option=com_j...t&view=loginregister

After registering, I'm then redirected to the following page, with the noticed "Facebook profile successfully connected.":

friendsurplus.com/index.php?option=com_j...nregister&Itemid=205


So, it does seem like a redirection of some sort is attempting to happen.. since it's trying to go to menu item 205. Can you look at your menu manager and see if menu item 205 is the one that you've set the redirection up for? That may help us narrow things down.

If you want us to take a look at the admin area, feel free to PM us the details of how to get in (or upgrade the account I just created).

I checked on the menu item 205 and that is the page the new user is supposed to be redirected to.

I have upgraded your account to have admin access to the site. Let me know if you have any issues logging in.

I was able to install the file manager I use to test things (extPlorer), but without super admin privileges, I can't actually edit anything.

However, I have something else to try first, if you want to before needing more privileges for me. The menu item you're redirecting to is for registered users only. While the user should be registered at that point, it's possible that Joomla is having issues redirecting there immediately after the user creation process with how we do things. Can you try the following:
1) Create a new menu.
2) Create a new -public- menu item that goes to your Welcome page
3) Use this public item as the new user redirection

Since it's a new menu, you can choose not to show it by simply not creating a module to display it. That way, even though the item is public, it shouldn't cause any problems.

Try that out, and let us know how it goes. If it doesn't work, then we'll need super admin access to diagnose the problem further.

Creating a new menu and menu item and setting it to public fixed the problem. If I point the redirect to that public menu item it works.

Glad to hear that worked for you. I've added a case to our debug tracker to look into this further as to why redirecting to registered pages may be a problem. We haven't seen or heard of this before, but strange things can happen.

Either way, it's a lower-priority task for us as you're the only report of it, and you seem to be good right now. If you have any other problems with this, or think it's more critical than I just mentioned, definitely let us know.
