So far I can't get it to display or do anything. It apprears in the module area properly and will show intro text, etc., but nothing else. Am I missing something basic?

Also, if it does work, I'm not sure I understand how it differs from JFBCInvite. Can anybody enlighten me?

Thanks.

The Like button is a way for a user to say the "Like" a page on your site. The Invite module is a way for users to send Facebook invitations to their friends for your site.

You can see the Like button in the top right of this page in between the menu and the login area. We actually just refreshed our demo site, and don't have a working example of the invite module, but in general, it looks very different.

If you're not seeing that, or are still confused, just let us know what page you have either enabled on, and we can help clarify more once we see what you're looking at.

Thanks,
Alex

Oh man, my bad...and my apologies. :P I didn't mean to mention the Invite module. It's working fine for me. :)

My main issue is still that I can't get the Like module to do anything...it doesn't display a Like button for me. And the comparison I intended was between the Like module and the Fan module. I have the Fan module displaying a Like button, so I wonder if I even need the Like module.

But again, the real reason for my post was that I can't get the Like module to work. (Sorry for the mistake in my OP.)

Griz,
Can you post the page this is happening on (or Private Message it to me)? Once I see the HTML on the page, I should be able to diagnose the problem quickly. We'll get you going :)

Thanks,
Alex

Griz,
I'll have to admit, I'm a bit confused as to what's going on there as well. Can you try the following to see if it works:
* Create a new Custom HTML module and put it in the same position as the Like module
* In the HTML box, simply put {JFBCLike} (you can add pre- and post-text as well).
* If you have a Render key setup in the Misc tab of the social configuration area, you'll need to use that as well: {JFBCLike key=12345}

See if that actually creates the Like button. Not sure why the module wouldn't, but it will help narrow down the cause.

Finally, I realized I never noted the difference between Fan and Like. The Fan box's Like button will have the user Like your Facebook Fan Page. The Like button itself is used to let a user like a specific page on your site. This is good for posting that page to the user's wall where their friends may see it and decide to visit. It's simply a different social aspect of using the Like button on your site vs on Facebook itself.

Hope that helps,
Alex
