Things have been working well, but now I get a 404 error when logging in. My Joomla login module works fine, but can't use JFBlogin.

It may be related to installing 3.4.1 over 3.4.0, not sure though.

Help please.

Griz,
Sorry to hear you're running into issues. Haven't heard of any other 404 login errors with the 3.4.x releases, so we'll need a little more information. Can you post (or Private Message) the URL of the site with the issue? Also, if you can post just the page portion (not the domain) of the URL that's actually coming back with a 404, that may help us determine the cause right away depending on what page is trying to load.

Thanks,
Alex

My site is www.grizzledgamer.com

The URL when the 404 is displayed is grizzledgamer.com/index.php. When I looked in my file manager, I didn't see any index.php at all in the JFB folders. (There is an index.html.) Could that be the problem?

Thanks for your assistance.

Griz,
Thanks for posting the URL. It looks like you have a few oddities and one big gotcha on your page:
Big Gotcha - The "Login With Facebook" button your using isn't ours. Not sure what that's coming from, but that would be why it's not working. Can you either use our JFBCLogin module, or modify the Login module you're using to replace the Login With Facebook button with our {JFBCLogin} tag? Our login button fires some Javascript off and done some other required things for the login to work, which is not included in what you're using.

Other things - If the above doesn't fix you right up, you may want to look into, at least temporarily, disabling any other Facebook integration extensions you have installed on the site. Just looking at the HTML, in the opening html statement (line 1), there's 3 inclusions of the Facebook namespace. While that's not a problem on it's own, it's an indicator that there's more Facebook integration going on than I can see.

Hope that helps get you started, but if you still are having issues, just let us know!

Thanks,
Alex

Heheh...we might have a bit of a catch 22 here. The login module showing right now is the joomla login module, not the JFBConnect login module...because the JFBConnect login module is not working for me. :^) I'd be glad to enable it for you to take a look, but I can't leave it like that for long because...well...errr...it doesn't work for me...heheh. Is there any way to make an appointment? (Or is there any way to investigate without it being active? )

On your home page, I see the "Login With Facebook" button right under the login area. That may be the standard Joomla Login module, but it's been modified to add the Facebook login button. Where is that coming from? It's not the JFBConnect "Login With Facebook" button, though it looks the same.

As for testing, I'm definitely available now, but a good way to set it up is to enable the JFBCLogin module on an obscure page only.. not the whole site. Then, we can test with that page.

Since you're not using our Login With Facebook button, can you let us know any other Facebook integration components, modules, or plugins you're using as that may help us narrow down known conflicts.

Thanks,
Alex

Duh...why didn't I think of that?!? :) Here's a link to a page with the module activated...

grizzledgamer.com/index.php/news-a-other-topics/odds-a-ends

And I noticed the modification of the standard Joomla login module, but since it worked, I didn't really question it. With respect to Facebook-related extensions, I believe the only other one I have is Jomsocial Facebook Connect.

I appreciate you looking into this. I've put on the hold the use of other JFBConnect extensions until this issue is resolved. Let me know if I can provide any further information.

Boy am I embarrassed...

I think I caused my own problem. I believe when I updated JCBConnect, I installed at last one module or plugin for version 1.5. :O I've installed the correct versions and my login is working again. I would only make one suggestion...(and this is NOT to take blame away from my carelessness...heheh)...I would personally suggest that 1.6/1.7 versions of your downloads be listed above the 1.5 versions. That's the way I see them listed almost everywhere else and I just (wrongly and carelessly) downloaded the top ones.

Anyway, thanks for your help...I THINK my problem is solved.

Griz,
Thanks for letting us know that you may have things going. We're going through to try and close a few things right now.. so we'll mark you off.. but definitely let us know if you run into any other issues.

As for J1.5 vs 1.6/1.7, we agree, there's some things we can improve on. I like the different ordering, and now, it seems like the tipping point of 1.6/1.7 usage has been hit, so it's fine to have it at top.

In the 4.0 release (or shortly thereafter), we'll be adding better checks to make sure that not just the right JFBConnect versions are installed, but also for the right Joomla version.

Anyways, definitely appreciate the feedback and letting us know what worked for you. If you run into anything else, you know where to find us.
Alex
