Dear Support,

The like button on my site works well in the Article View or the Blog view, but not in the Category Blog. When in the category blog, the button for each article is shown but has a different counter (i.e accumulated likes doesn't appear there).

The link that doesn't work.

Damon,
I just looked that link that doesn't work and am not seeing the Like buttons inserted there at all. Did you disable them there, or is that the problem? From your description, it sounds like they were appearing but the count was out of sync with other views.

Finally, can you tell me what page you use to reach that view that doesn't work (the page that links to it or menu item I can click on) and the menu creation type you're using just so I'm sure how to recreate it once we get the information I need?

Mainly, in the Main Menu, are you simply doing: Articles -> Category -> Category Blog Layout, or some other menu type?

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex,

Thanks for the speedy response!

Here's more information, hopefully they are able to give you some clues:
- I switched off the LIKE button in category view currently.
- The view under DF-Advertorial is a Category blog layout.
- When you click on the two different likes, it posted two different links to my FB page. One of them links to the article and one to the category blog.
- When you unlike any one of the two links in the site, both posts on FB disappear.

I can actually give you the superuser login later in the evening (probably morning in your time). I know it's difficult to try to troubleshoot based on my vague descriptions.

I don't know what I did. When I came to the site today, all the face links are grayed out. For eg, the connect with facebook button turned to plain connect to facebook words.

I tried to turn on debugging mode, saw some errors on language, /language/en-GB/en-GB.mod_jfbclogin.ini : error(s) in line(s) 15, 16, 17.

So I tried turning on the language locale to en_US and it worked. But now the LIKE counters have all gone to zero.

The surprise was when I came to your site, the connect with facebook button is not working too! Something must be wrong with my connection, but it's the same on my Iphone as well (cellular internet)

Hey Alex, hope you had a good weekend. Still having problems with the FB Connect extension. On my friends' computers, I'm seeing this too. Totally perplexed.

Thanks so much for your kind help!

Damon,
Sorry for the delayed response.

I'm still not seeing, on the category view, any Like buttons. Are you seeing them there?

As for the language files, I think I see the issue in those files. The language strings are using a '?', which they shouldn't be. We'll fix that in the next release, but that shouldn't be what's causing your problem right now.

Finally, yeah, if you want to send your super admin credentials, that would help. Please also give us any instructions on specifically how to re-enable any settings you may have disabled temporarily to hide the issue.

Thanks,
Alex

Damon,
We see the issue, and are going to have to investigate more. Basically, there looks to be a bug in Joomla 1.6 for how article links are created. From category views, the link to the final article includes the catid=xxx in the URL. However, the link created for the final article from other views does not have the catid. It's this 2nd type of link that we create for the Like button to actually 'like' when clicked. There's a lot of black magic behind the scenes of JFBConnect to try to make sure those numbers all link up, and it's something we'll have to investigate, and possibly submit to Joomla as a bug.

Ultimately, the final URL for an article, in our opinion and any search-engine minded admin, should be the same. This behavior obviously creates 2 different links to the same article, and that's not good.

Hope that helps explain, and thanks for pointing this out. We'll investigate further, but I don't think I'll have a good immediate answer for you, unfortunately.

Alex

Dear support,
I have the same problem.
In category view the link in like / send buttom is http://domanin-name/cms/index.php/category-name?id=24:article-name which results in 404 apache code error.
but the link in article name is http://domain-name/cms/index.php/category-name/24-article-name which is OK.
Have you found a solution?
Thanks.

Andanet,
What version of Joomla and JFBConnect are you using? That will help us narrow things down as to the cause.

Also, please post from the account you subscribed from, as priority support is for active subscribers.

Thanks,
