I'm getting this error when the jomsocial plugin is enabled:

Fatal error: Class 'JController' not found in /home/startkrach/domains/b2bcontact.nl/public_html/components/com_community/controllers/controller.php on line 20

When i put it off, there is no problem

jomsocial 2.2.2 joomla 1.6.3

Thanks

Jayakrishnan,
Can you let us know what version of JomSocial, Joomla, JFBConnect and the JomSocial integration plugin you're using is? Additionally, please let me know what version of PHP you're running.

Unfortunately, it looks like we missed Peter's post above, so don't know much about this issue. We'll definitely look into it once we have the info from you and figure out a solution quickly. We've never had any other reports of this issue. Additionally, the JController class that is being reported as not found is a standard Joomla class, which should be readily available to any extension, so it's a very strange error.

Thanks for the info,
Alex

Jomsocial Version - 2.2.4
JFBConnect - Profiles - JomSocial - 3.4.2 - I tried disabling this plugin like the guy above and the error stopped for me as well
JFBConnect - Component - 3.4.1

PHP Version 5.2.17
Web Server Apache
WebServer to PHP Interface cgi-fcgi
Joomla! Version Joomla! 1.6.6 Stable

Would be glad to work with you to solve this issue.. But cant post server details in public forum..

Jayakrishnan,
Yeah, we'll need to see the site's configuration to diagnose this any further.

From some Google searches, the only reasons we've found that could be possible causes are:
1) You're using a Smarty template (or a template based on the Smarty template engine). If so, there are some recommendations on how to fix. Also, if so, please try setting your template to a different default one and try again to see if that fixes the problem.
2) You transferred Joomla, JFBConnect, or JomSocial to your site through FTP and installed it from there (Not using the Joomla installer with a big zip file). If so, some of the files weren't transferred in ASCII format, and so are corrupted. If so, you'll need to replace any files you transferred like that (or simply re-install the components)

If any of the above sound familiar, please let us know, as it will help us narrow down solutions.

To send us site details, please Private Message them to us. You can do so by hitting the arrow under my picture (<----) and hitting the mail icon.

Thanks,
Alex

Ok.. I had solved the problem like this following point number 1.

I had the template specific styling (rockettheme) for jomsocial turned on. Also I had chosen the bubbleface theme of jomsocial. I switched to the default jomsocial theme and left the template styling on. It seemed to work fine till today, when just one new user had the same error. (Registered using joomla account, not facebook)

This error comes up when they try to login after successfully registering and activating.

Fatal error: Class 'JController' not found in ///public_html/components/com_community/controllers/controller.php on line 20

I tried resetting this users, user name and password from background and login from my laptop. It threw the same error. So i went ahead and registered a new user, but had no errors at all. I am baffled.

Search as i might, this is the only result i get in google for this error. I dont believe it is anything to do with point 2 mentioned above, as i never used ftp for any installations so far in the site.

If you want any specific details, i can mail them to you

Jayakrishnan,
Yes, we're going to need more details of your site, and if possible a super admin account to see your whole site's configuration. As mentioned, there's simply no reason that JController can't be found. It's an integral part of Joomla, and we don't have any ideas what's going wrong.

If you can private message us the details, that'd be great. You can PM me by clicking the arrow under my picture (<----) and hitting the mail icon.

Thanks,
Alex

Not sure why you're not seeing the mail icon, but you can also PM me by clicking my Avatar and then clicking the "PMB" link next to Private Message:

Hope that helps, and sorry for the confusion.

Thanks,
Alex
