Hi Sourcecost,

Any update on this? I'm sure you knwo how popular the CB component is and how usefull your app could be for us... and how much you could make of this...
What CB plugins we use does not really matter, as you should make it generic and ready to use for everybody

Even if you 'only' get username email and avatar... it would allready be a great feature
pleeaaase

The current implementation imports avatars and fields, and functions just like JomSocial.

The plugins do matter, and is where we're hung up a little right now. The current implementation has JFBConnect creating the user, which then prevents any user registration plugins from firing. Depending on the site this could mean nothing, or everything.

We're confident that we'll get an initial release (which we're going to call a test release for the CB portion) out next week. There will likely be bugs, because, as you all know, CB's been around a long time. This means that it's both complex to work with and there are so many add-ons that may cause conflicts.

In short, everyone will know when it's out, but we won't immediately be recommending that everyone go try it.

The test release is almost complete.. 1-2 days and it will have CB support and another feature highly requested around here. We'd love people to test it, report back any problems, and then we'll try to get a full release-quality version out next week with fixes.

We're excited, and I'll post here when it's out since we won't be updating the 'current' version number in the app since it will be a test version.

As for the authentication API in CB.. yes, they have it. That's not really the problem though.. they don't have a 'user creation' API that's fully customizeable the way we need. We think our solution is good, but it will definitely need some testing and will certainly break in some conditions.. we just need to know those conditions to fix them (it's impossible to flip every switch in CB and test).

This might be against the grain but...

What is the potential for a version that only focuses on the authentication? I have several sites that do not support open registration. That is, only known members of an organization are permitted to be registered. I would specifically not want any sort of user creation mechanism - the only thing I'd look for is the authentication piece so that someone registered could log in with Facebook credentials.

Corsulian,
I created a new thread to discuss your request and pondered it a bit. Please respond there as this thread really isn't the appropriate place for non-CB requests.

The new test release for CB has been released and also has the other big feature people have been asking for: a user registration form so users can select their own username/password and set their email address OR select an existing Joomla account to connect to.
More details here:

Please do search or post a new thread if you run into issues (don't post here)
