Just wondered when the new release will be available and if it will support simultaneous login using just facebook login for app(canvas/page) and Standard registration for website?

The next release should be out in late October, if all goes well. We don't really have any plans to allow/prevent certain logins in certain cases. In the Canvas view, you have the ability to specify your own template. With that template, you can then set just the Login with Facebook button to show, if you wanted whereas in the live site, you can show the Joomla login on your normal template.

That shouldn't need to be a setting within JFBConnect, but if I'm missing something, just let us know what you're looking for!

Thanks,
Alex

Phil,
We're still evaluating the plans for Authenticated Referrals for the upcoming release. When you enable Authenticated Referrals in your Facebook App, it takes care of a lot of the work for you as log as you have Automatically Log Facebook Users In enabled. With some of the more recent changes in 4.2.x, that shouldn't be causing many problems, or any issues.. but if it is, let us know.

What's currently happening on your site when you enable Authenticated Referrals in your App? It's been a while since April/May. Though I read the full thread before, the last point with the documentation for setting up Authenticated Referrals is still pretty valid, and as mentioned, some changes in later 4.2.x releases should have helped the situation even more.

If you need anything, let us know!

Thanks,
Alex

Hi,

Wondering if there are any plans to implement any way of pulling facebook galleries / events from a like page on Facebook?

There are currently only two plugins I'm aware of ( and use both of them ) that do this well.

Facebook Events
extensions.joomla.org/extensions/calenda...ents-calendars/19440

There are currently no other plugins that do this for some strange reason and Facebook don't have any social plugins available on their site either, which is very strange. You create an app on Facebook like you do with JFBC and it pulls your events from a page to your website, which you can style using CSS. Very handy and useful plugin and I don't understand why no other developers have done this.

QGallery Pro
extensions.joomla.org/extensions/social-...photo-channels/15336

This plugin allows you to create an app on FB and you can click import via the Joomla admin panel and it connects to your pages and lets you display galleries on your website. It's very slow though, I don't know if it's FB or the way it has been coded.

Not sure if either of them features fit in with what you guys do but would be great additions to the Source Coast family of FB integrations.

Events and galleries are something that's been requested a few times in the past. It's something we want to implement, but other features keep cropping up as more critical in both our opinion and by request of users. We definitely like the idea of events especially, since it shouldn't be overly difficult to pull those in.

Galleries become more difficult as it will be hard as we'd need to either 'import' the images and save them on your site (which is redundant) and would be very extension specific or display them straight from Facebook. That has it's own privacy and user restrictions that need to be considered and so not as high on our list due to the issues it presents.

So, I'd love to say that Events is coming.. I do believe it will be implemented in a future release, but I don't have a timeline as to when.

As always though, we love the feedback and always welcome more!

Thanks,
Alex

Just something I thought I would throw in there to see what you guys thought. JFBC is great as it is, I have those features covered elsewhere for the time being but it would be cool for events as it's not difficult looking at the code in that extension I linked to.

Totally understand what you're saying about the gallery though. Keep up the good work and thanks for replying to my points, appreciated.

Jay

Just coming back to the Authenticated Referrals this is working fine on my site. What we touched on in a pervious thread was being able to have a registration path for site access i.e. user clicks login with facebook @ www.joebloggs.com. this will use normal registration.
And then registration within facebook itself i.e. app/canvas page. with will follow automatic registration.

Phil,
First off, just so you know, Authenticated Referrals are being removed from Facebook. They led to 'poor quality apps' and unhappy users.
developers.facebook.com/blog/post/2012/1...tion-developer-love/
They announced this on the day I responded above saying we're still evaluating our plans. That certainly helps us evaluate things better :D Thought you should know that AR's won't work in a few months.

So, not sure what we're going to do about that now since in both cases, it seems, the user will have to use the Login With Facebook button. Any feedback, suggestions, or ideas, as always, are welcome! Not sure if we'd want to separate out how the login functionality works depending on mode without the auto-registration factor (Authenticated Referrals) being there, just so you know.

Thanks,
Alex
