Hi,
I've got a like button on the top of my page www.tribuygear.com. When I click the like button on the top of the page I
see this "Tribuy.co - Buy gear. Sell yours. www.tribuy.co/ Joomla! - the dynamic portal engine and content management system"
in the popup window.
If I click any product and click on the same like button, I see what I'd like to which is "test title www.tribuygear.com/virtuemart...best title"
Why is the like butoon on the first page alone behaving differently?

Thanks,
Deepa

Deepa,
Not sure why it's coming up with the .co (instead of .com) extension. I'm assuming that's an old site you had.

I just ran your page through the URL Debug tool from Facebook and the title/description look right:
developers.facebook.com/tools/debug

That tool has the effect of 'clearing' Facebook's cache for your page, so it may help clear things up over the next day or so. You'll have to test again and see if it changes things at all.

If you can explain where the tribuy.co domain is used, and if there was a Like button present on that site at some point, it will help understand things. Facebook can have a long memory of old pages, so knowing the history will help come up with some solutions.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex,
Yes it was the first domain name (and still is registered), that means tribuy.co is forwarding to tribuygear.com.
But the name that is being branded now is tribguygear.com-so it's critical for our users to be able to see this. The
odd thing is that the like posts the tribuygear.com URL to the FB wall.

Thanks,
Deepa

Deepa,
I'm really unsure what's going on. If I use the Debug Tool from Facebook, the information shows correctly:
developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/og/o...%2F%2Ftribuygear.com

It looks like you're specifying the {SCOpenGraph url=http://www.tribuygear.com} tag on your home page. Can you try changing that to:
{SCOpenGraph url=http://tribuygear.com}
That doesn't have the www in it. Then, update your Like button to not use the www. Finally, run your page through the FB Debug Tool again and then click the actual Like button.

Let us know if that makes a difference. Basically, we're trying to change the home page URL so that Facebook 'sees' the update and hopefully gets the right information.

Alex

Hi,
I tried that and it changed the contents of the like box, but the URL is still a tribuy.co.
I really need that to show tribuygear.com for recall value with our users.

Thanks,
Deepa

Hi Alex,
I've waited with a lot of patience for Fb to update all it's servers =) still no dice.
Please can you tell me if there is anything else I can look for? I'm unable to see any place
in the code/configuration that I'm putting in tribuy.co

Thanks,
Deepa

Deepa,
There's really nothing I can recommend at this point to fix. I'd have to suggest submitting a bug-report to Facebook. You can do so at the link below:
developers.facebook.com/bugs

You'll want to submit it while logged into Facebook as the admin of your Application. Then, use the search box. Type "Like Button" and then click "Create New Bug Report". For Title, say something like "Like popup shows wrong information". Then in the description area, detail everything you've posted here.. your Open Graph tags are correct, the post in the user's wall appears correct. Everything seems right, but the URL is wrong *only* in the popup. Make sure you mention that is your old URL, but it's no longer used. Then, fill in the rest of the information as best as you can.

Hopefully, they'll have an answer for you, but I've exhausted all ideas and the issue is not being caused by JFBConnect in any way that I can tell.

Very sorry for all the trouble, and hopefully that will get you going soon.

Thanks,
Alex
