I am trying to upload the file to the server, and it won't work. :/ The only thing that I can think of that may be hindering this process is the admintools or the anti-hacker software. Can you help me?

I'm trying to open my downloaded files and it says its invalid.
If I try to extract it, I get another message-
"before you can extract files you must copy-
files to this compressed folder"
"this compressed folder is empty"

I've tried several times.

Tammy,
Do you get an error message or anything else that may help us diagnose the issue? We use AdminTools on this site (as well as many of our users using it as well), so that shouldn't be an issue. If your anti-hacker software prevents other extensions, I can see it affecting JFBConnect, but if not, I doubt that's the cause. Again, if there's an error or other message, that would help. Until then, I'd check your /tmp folder to make sure it's writeable and that you're using the latest version of Joomla (v1.5.26).

Gail,
How are you trying to extract it? We'd recommend using the built-in unzipping software within Windows or Mac. If you're using a 3rd party utility (WinZip, WinRar, etc), we've heard of outdated versions of those software packages having problems unzipping our main package. However, the built-in OS software works for just about everyone and we have many users unzipping our files every day without issue.

Hope that helps get you started, but if either of you have questions, just let us know!
Alex

I was able to download the component now. It was the cookie prevention set up on Google Chrome. Thanks!

Tammy,
Glad to hear you got it! Never heard of that issue before, honestly, but good to know for future reference!

Best of luck,
Alex

Thank you, I tried to extract the files myself a couple of times, and someone else tried on their computer. He helps me with my website. I'm not really sure how to select the way I extract a file. "Extraction Wizard"? I think that's the message I get with the error msgs.

I downloaded the files again and it continues to tell me they're empty. Maybe I'll try from another computer.

Yes, would recommend a different computer. On Windows 7 at least, if you right click on the file, you should have an "Extract All..." option. That will use Windows built-in extract tool. Mac has a different built-in tool.

For reference, the downloaded file should be about 400kB in size. It's not huge, but if you're seeing a 0-byte file, that would explain there is a problem somewhere with the download path. If it's the right size, that would indicate the tool you're using likely can't read the zip format properly (though we're not using anything too obscure).

Hope that helps,
Alex

When right clicking on the file, I get "extract files", or the choices of winzip or windows explorer. Each one gives me an error message. It does show almost 400kb in the file. I'm not sure what to do at this point. I've downloaded the file several times.

A guy that does tech work on my website and I both have tried the method you gave me. Would you be able to recreate the file so that I may use it with WinZip? Or is there a specific program that you know will open it?

Gail,
It sounds like somewhere it's getting corrupt. That file hasn't been changed in about 2 weeks and has been downloaded over 1,000 times between new users and upgrades and we haven't heard of that issue. Not sure what's happening on your end, but it seems a virus scanner, browser plugin, or some other software is corrupting the file after you download it.

My only suggestion is to try downloading the original file from at least another browser but preferably another computer. I know you mentioned another user couldn't unzip it either, but I'm assuming you emailed or transferred the file you downloaded to them, which isn't seeming to be downloaded correctly.

I'm sorry I don't have any other good ideas. We don't have the individual files available for download. We are working on a new installer package for the next major release, but that won't help much now.

Please let us know how it goes, and good luck,
Alex
