Fanbox questions was created by kiwi2b
Hi there,

Just using the Fanbox (likebox) module on my website. Looks great, it's showing the feed. But some questions...

The page that the Fanbox is linked to has had a post (4 hours agao) and I have commented on it back (45 minutes ago), but these recent posts are not showing in the Fanbox on the website. The older posts are showing fine from a couple of days back. How can I fix this, is there a setting? It would be great to have the Fanbox update live, or at least pretty quickly.

Also, I have un/ticked the show faces option, but can't see the difference. Either way, it just shows my profile picture above the comments and next to each comment (see screenshot). What should it do? Also, on the facebook page, it says there are 22 likes, and I'm expecting for some of these to show at the top of the Fanbox. Is this right? (Screenshot attached of what I am seeing.)

Last up, does the 'Intro text' box in the parameters accept images, styling etc or just text?

Thanks for your help again!

Kiwi,
The Fanbox only displays posts made by an admin of the page or the Page itself. It's not meant to be the full stream of every post on the way, just the admin notifications. The reason is to prevent spam, or unrelated posts, from showing up on your website. By doing only admin posts, it's guaranteed to be a relevant post to the Page. The idea of the Fanbox is to attract users to actually go to the Page, where they can see all posts. If every post appeared on it (from all users), it likely wouldn't attract more users as intended.

For the Show Faces, they only show if the height of the module is set to greater than about 500px (I think). The header and the stream both have fixed heights, when enabled. So, for the faces to show, you need enough room for those in addition to extra room for the faces themselves.

Hope that all makes sense,
Alex

Yep, more height did the trick, for me 620. Looks great!

And html formatting and a link to an image are possible for the 'Intro text box'? The plan is to do an image that points to the like button. Hope this is possible??

Absolutely no way to get non-admin posts into the Fanbox? It would be an idea to do this somehow: maybe people would come to the website to see the latest news and catch up on some facebook comments from their fellow customers. Possible? Moderation would be an issue, but I'm expecting Facebook's moderation features to deal with this. This would be right wouldn't it???

Hi again, quickly checking what I can put in the text box, it seems styles are okay (any limits?), but are divs possible? Seems not, but hope so. And could I put an image in there somehow??

(Maybe best of all down the track would be showing a text editor for this field?)

Thanks.

No way to put admin posts in that box. That's a Facebook limitation, not JFBConnect, and because it's always admin posts in there, there are -no- moderation abilities available for the Fanbox. That would all have to occur on your Page.. but the only posts that show are admins, so you won't have to moderate them :)

I believe you can do an image tag in the Intro text. Always possible Joomla will strip the code, and if so, let us know. We should be able to help you get around that. We won't be adding a text editor to that field as that could get scary for many users.

Hope that helps,
Alex
