Why is the image in the send box inherited from the rss feed? How do I change this image?

Thanks

The image that's used for a URL for the Like, Send, or Comments function is defined by the Open Graph tags. JFBConnect can try to automatically set the image tag for articles, but on other pages (like your home page) you'd need to set the image specifically with the following tag:
{JFBCGraph image=http://site.com/link-to-image.jpg}
You can set this on just your home page by creating a Custom HTML module, setting it to only display on the home page menu item, and typing the text above into the text area.

Additionally, you can set a site-wide default image for all pages that don't get one set automatically by JFBConnect and don't have a {JFBCGraph image=xxx} tag. You can set it by typing the following into the "Defaults" box in the Open Graph tab in the Social Configuration area:
image=http://site.com/link-to-default-image.jpg

For more information on Open Graph tags, see the page below:

Hope that helps,
Alex

Wish I can say that was easy....

I am trying to set the default image for all pages that don't get one automatically set. In the open graph tab in social configuration, I entered: image=http://.njteachertalk.com/templates/njteachertalkfont/images/postheadericon.png

There is no change in the image in the likemodule send box. Cleared caches (backend joomla and browser) and still no change. When I click 'view source' on the front page, www.njteachertalk.com ,the change is reflected there. Just not in the send box.

What am I doing wrong?

Nothing. Facebook has it's own caches, that can take 1-3 days to refresh with the new tags you've supplied. You can use their URL debug tool to see what they see. It also has the benefit of (usually) immediately refreshing their cache as well:

Hope that helps, and sorry for not mentioning it earlier.

Thank you for that link. I used that debugging tool and I included a screenshot of the page. There is 1 warning which I am not sure if that is stopping the process of updating that image in the send box.

The debug tool did not clear out their caches. Although it looks like it has been changed judging from the screenshot. I know you said that usually it updates by clearing out their cache. If it doesn't. I should just wait it out?

You think in 1-3 days it will automatically change?

I just want to make sure that I set it up here right.

Thanks

Yes, just looked and the tag is correct. Unfortunately, the Send button works differently than the Like button, in that the image can take a while to update, where as the Debug Tool will update the cache automatically for everything else. Still not sure why this is, and there have been multiple bugs entered to Facebook about the Send button ignoring Open Graph tags altogether.

Hopefully, that's not your issue. The best I can suggest for now is simply waiting it out.

Glad you're making good progress, and don't hesitate to let us know if there's anything else you need!

Fantastic! So glad we got you going. Facebook can definitely be a hair-pulling experience. We try to make sure that JFBConnect doesn't add to the problems, but can see where a little more documentation on this topic could help.

Anyways, hopefully, it's all smooth sailing from here. Should you need anything else though, definitely let us know.

Finally, please consider leaving a rating and review on the Joomla Extension Directory for JFBConnect, or our support. It's certainly not required, but very appreciated!
