FB Insights meta tags was created by tanoah
Hi, I was just looking into fb insights, and saw that my website was not connected to fb insights, which , now that it is fb friendly via jfbconnect, I'd like to start tracking analytics. FB gives a code to place into page header, but i was wondering (since google analytics wants the same for analytics and there's a plugin for that) if there was a plugin here that did that for FB. Perhaps i just missed it.

Tanoah,
We already insert the fb:app_id tag into your header which enables Insights tracking for the site. With that, you can log into the Insights area, and if you're an administrator of the application, you can see the Insights data.

It does take a little while to start getting Insights info, and not all of it is meant for websites, so some things will be flat-lined, and that's normal.. just so you know.

Thanks,
Alex

Alex thanks, i thought you brilliant guys would've thought of that. But this means i must be doing something wrong. Still when i check my fb business page insights, there is a tab at the top listing the page, and then website and apps. it wont allow me to access website, because there is no website attached, and when i went exploring, that was when i discovered that it was asking for meta tag information, so somehow, the two are not connecting. can you assist me in making sure i am getting all of the reporting correctly. what i want to be sure of is that when people go to my website and like an article or comment on an article, that this information is being recorded in FB insights for the fb page

Try the page below:
www.facebook.com/insights/

There, you should see the Application you created for your website and be able to get the analytics information you're looking for. For domains, the information isn't broken out on a per page basis (that'd be great), just so you know.

Also, if you want to add the admins tag yourself (in case you read something and feel you're missing something somewhere), you can easily do it in the Social configuration of JFBConnect on the Open Graph tab. In the big defaults box, simply put:
admins=xxxxxx,yyyyyy,zzzzz
Where x, y, and z are any admins that you'd want to have access to your domain data.

When updated, it may take up to 72 hours for your pages to be 'released' to those admins for Insight access.

Hope that helps,
Alex

Thanks Alex, i will definitely give that a try. another quick question. Do you have to have an app in order to have a page tab? (also, the app instructions ask for : go into the "About -> Advanced" area, and make sure the following settings are configured as below:

signed_request for Canvas: - Enabled
iFrame Page Tab - Enabled
Develop Using Deprecated FBML Canvas - Disabled
but those features are no longer under that tab.

You have to have a FB App for a tab. The App is added to the Page in tab form... and it uses an iFrame to a page on your site to display. That's the quick answer.

I just added a note to the Page Tab instructions to disregard those values if you don't see them. Newer apps have those settings forced upon them. Older apps have the option during a transition phase to when they all must be set like we describe.

Hope that makes sense,
Alex

Tanoah,
No problem for the help.. and glad to hear it's helping! Should you need anything else, just let us know!

Finally, once you get to play with JFBConnect a bit, please consider leaving a rating and review on the Joomla Extension Directory for JFBConnect and/or our support. It's certainly not required, but very appreciated!

Thanks, and good luck,
Alex
