Topic-icon Facebook app configuration - compatibility with Gigya API ?

Hello,
I need to install a special module for Jomsocial social sharing which requires Gigya API (www.gigya.com)
and the creation of a Facebook App

Given that I already have a Facebook App configured to work with JFBC, I'm wondering if I could use this same App also for Gigya...

here you can see how tha App should be configured to work with Gigya:
=>> developers.gigya.com/010_Developer_Guide...ications/10_Facebook

here is some things they request to do in FAcebook App configuration:
Paste the following URL in the 'Site URL' field: socialize.gigya.com/gs/

Click on the 'Advanced' tab (located under 'Settings' on the left-hand side menu).
Paste the following URL in the 'Deauthorize Callback' field: socialize.gigya.com/GS/SNLink.aspx?r=1

Do you think I will have to create a new App or I can use the same I'm already using with JFBC just changing the above settings?
(I'm not using canvas)

Regards,
Niccolò

For JFBConnect, the Site URL has to be the site that the Login With Facebook button would appear on. This is for security purposes from Facebook to make sure a user isn't tricked into logging into a different site.

Because of that, you'd need to create a separate app. Depending on what Gigya will be doing, using a separate app may cause issues with JFBConnect, because only one app can generally be initialized per page.

Hope that helps explain, and after you test, let us know how it goes.

Thanks,
Alex

Thanks Alzander,
and what if I configure a domain alias (CNAME), so that I can use alias.mydomain/gs/
instead of socialize.gigya.com/gs/
?

this is an advanced suggestion from Gigya...
Paste the following URL in the 'Site URL' field: socialize.gigya.com/gs/
Optional: If you are planning on configuring a domain alias (CNAME), please replace 'socialize.gigya.com' with your alias sub domain (CNAME value). i.e. http://[YOUR-ALIAS-SUB-DOMAIN]/gs/

the URL alias.mydomain/gs/
would be good for JFBC also, or it requires a primary domain URL like http://mydomain
?

You can certainly try that. It's not something we've ever tested before, but I would assume that Facebook wouldn't try to resolve the 'real' final destination of the domain, and simply does a string compare.

So, it likely will work, whereas updating the Site URL to something other than your site definitely will not work. Definitely give it a shot, and let us know how it goes.

Good luck,
Alex

Hello,
i have tested this solution and it works,
in this way I can use the same application both for JFBC and Gigya,
now when the user click the icon to connect with Gigya service (to share his jomsocial video and photos on facebook)
the application requests permission only to access user videos and photos,
because the user has already given all other permissions when connectin using JFBC connect button

Niccolò,
Thanks for letting us know that that worked for you. Always good for us to keep in the back of our minds in case someone else asks.

As for Gigya, we'll have to look into it some more. Seems interesting. How much does it cost? I was a little confused as to pricing, if you don't mind talking about it.

Thanks,
Alex

Hello Alex,
I didn't paid for it, I just opened a free developer account to get an API key, I'm using it with a module provided here =>> www.thakkertech.com/products/tsocial-add...la-auto-publish.html
