Topic-icon Can't seem to change profile fields after they are imported from FB

Excellent product so far. One question though:

We're using the FB User Only option and importing fields and mapping them to our JomSocial fields (only the registration, not every time), later on the user should be able to change those fields - but the changes don't stick, so if a user had a blank field in his FB profile, and tries updating that field in JomSocial with something new, after the save, the field stays blank. What's the solution?

Thanks!

Joe,
We'll have to test this, as it isn't something we've ever run into. Can you test this on our JFBConnect demo site and see if you run into the same problem?

The only time we import profile information into JomSocial is during logging in or registration. So, there's no reason we should be blocking an update of profile information while the user is actively on the site. I could easily see how we'd overwrite that data on a return visit, if you have JFBConnect configured that way.

Thanks, and let us know if you find anything out!

We have the Facebook User - only option enabled, not the full joomla profile. Could this be making a difference? (also, the demo is configured this way, so it's not something I can test there). Let me know what you think. Thanks!

The user creation mode shouldn't have anything to do with it. Other than the actual registration process, once a user is 'connected' on your system between their Joomla and Facebook accounts, we treat both types of users the exact same from that point forward.. so that should be the issue at all.

If you want us to test on your site though, we'll be glad to see if there's anything odd we notice. Just post (or private message us) the URL.

Thanks,
Alex
