Facebook Tab & Canvas Integration - Required Application Configuration

Thanks for the pat on the back. We try for a 'bigger' release every quarter, and this is definitely it... glad some of our users are already playing around

As for that setting, Facebook renamed it on August 1st. You now should look for "signed_request for Canvas:" and make sure that that is enabled. We updated the configuration guide as well.

With that said, the Page Tab & Canvas guide doesn't talk about the Canvas stuff at all (yet), only Page Tab integration... and it's still a little rough around the edges.. so definitely let us know any issues you run into. We'll be cleaning things up as we learn where people are getting confused, but hopefully, it won't be too painful in the process!

The language files were updated for 3.4. If you're not using English, you'll need to copy those strings from the en-GB.com_jfbconnect.ini language file to your own.

That email text was hard-coded in the last release, so now it's configurable. We also added the username (or guest if no one is logged in) to the email details so you get a little more information about the like/comment.

Yeah, not much we can do about stuff like that. Your site is in an iFrame, and anything meant to break that.. will break things.

We'd love to have your feedback, especially, since I know you have some sites running in Facebook using other methods already. We've been using the Tab & Canvas stuff in JFBC for a bit, obviously, for both testing and promotion.. but I'm sure once someone does some wild things or in some strange situations, there will be weird issues that come to light.. so just keep us posted with your findings, good or bad.

Right now, yes, it's just one tab and canvas per app. With this release, we really wanted to get the functionality out there, but stick with keeping things easy to setup.. and frankly the Tab/Canvas stuff isn't super easy (yet.. we'll get there).

We do have plans to create a table view in the admin area where you can add Page and Canvas views to your hearts content. Before we get there though, we wanted to introduce the feature, get feedback, refine it as necessary, and go from there.

As for the menu itself, that would actually be chosen by the Tab/Canvas URL in Facebook. Just point it to the specific page/menu item you want it to land on.. not just your home page.

Hope that all makes sense, and let us know of any shortcomings or problems you see with our current implementation.
