Unfortunately, in March, Facebook updated their comment box quite a bit. In the process, they removed the ability to style the box as they felt some people were completely removing all branding and 'looks' from it that made it seem related to Facebook in anyway.
Both of the links you provide, if you look at the top, specifically say "Legacy FBML", and those boxes use the old 'XID' parameter to identify each comment box, instead of the URL of the page you want the comments attached to, as in the new comment box that Facebook supports. Facebook does allow limited support of some of the old features from the old comment box if you continue using it on your site, but in the past when they've done this, they've very randomly, and all-of-a-sudden, would remove the ability completely. Because of this, in April, with our 3.2 release, we upgraded completely to the new comment box. We still have some support for the old box for the users of JFBConnect that had a lot of comments before the 3.2 upgrade, but if you weren't using our box, they migration options we have won't work for you. They do have the 'light' and 'dark' colorschemes, which we'll agree aren't fully-featured solutions, but it's the most flexibility that Facebook gives with the new commenting system.
I do hope this helps explain everything, and the short of it is that Facebook no longer allows styling of the comment box. We're shooting, for the 4.1 release, to have some big improvements and enhanced functionality for commenting features that may allow some styling, but we don't have a timeline or more information we can give about that for now.
