Topic-icon fb:admins or fb:app_id in Open Graph fields Problem

When I use FB URL linter, an error given:
"You failed to provide a valid list of administrators. You need to supply the administrators using either a "fb:app_id" meta tag or a "fb:admins" meta tag to specify a comma-delimited list of Facebook users."

Then I tried to add "fb:app_id=xxxxx" at Open Graph fields in config setting. But when i check source code "" is added instead.

Is it useful to add app_id in open graph field? If yes, how to add it correctly.~~

Thanks a lot=]

You shouldn't use the fb: in the tag, we'll automatically add that. In the defaults area, you should set it as:
app_id=xxxx

Not sure why it's going blank, but either way, the above line should fix it. In the upcoming 4.0 release, we'll be setting this value automatically, but yes, for now, you need to do it manually.

Hope that helps, but if not, let us know!

Problem fixed when I just enter "app_id=xxxx"~~Thx

But another error message arised "Exception There was an internal error when creating the page. " after I added app_id
Do you know Facebook want us to add app_id or admin id? Any impact if we miss it?

Thanks=]

Where are you seeing that error? Never heard of that one.

Facebook will accept either app_id or admins. It's up to you how you want your posts to be moderated (either by admins of the application, or specific users). Only one is required. In our testing, there's no impact in leaving both off though, except you'll get that message in the Linter and you won't be able to moderate the comments.

Hope that helps!

I got the error from FB URL linter~~
I would try remove it first and add it later if I need to edit the comment~~

Thanks for your explanation~~Alex=]

If you get the error appearing in the Linter again, please send us a URL to the page so we can lint it and see if there's something specific we can look into further.

Not sure what it could be, but would love to avoid it in the future :)

Where should this be entered? I get the same error message in linter - The page failed to provide a valid list of administrators. It needs to specify the administrators using either a "fb:app_id" meta tag, or using a "fb:admins" meta tag to specify a comma-delimited list of Facebook users.

Also - when Open graph is enabled, do I need to add the tags? How long time will it take before Facebook recognises the new meta tags?

Thanks
Malin

Once enabled, some tags will take up to 48 hours to be recognized by Facebook.

For the administrators, if you're using 3.4.x, the app_id should already be included as an Open Graph tag which will notify Facebook that any administrators of your app are admins of that page too. If you want to specify specific admins though, you can do across the whole site by using the Open Graph tab, and in the big box for defaults, enter:
admins=xxxx,yyyy
Where xxxx and yyyy are the Facebook User IDs of the user's you want to be admins (you can find this in the User Map area if they're connected or on their FB profile page)

If you want different admins for different pages, we can help you to do that too, just let us know.

Hope that helps,
Alex

Thanks.. However, we still have a problem with the Facebook linter tool showing the wrong meta tags. I have enabled the Open Graph tab and entered the admin id. I have also put the extra tags in the article with the meta tag problem. What to do?

Thanks

Malin,
Can you post, or private message us, the URL of the page with the issues? If we can see the HTML, we can usually diagnose issues like you're mentioning pretty quickly.

Thanks,
Alex
