Hello Alex,
Just bought your nice component few days ago to replace and improve the jomsocial FB connect option.
So I followed carefully all your instructions in order to set it up properly:
- removed the FB API keys in Jomsocial
- double checked the order of user plugins (user - joomla one first then user - jfbconnect after) maybe worth mentionning I've a user-jomsocial plugin between the 2 others...
I did set up the jomsocial mapping and imported the users.

My settings are:
User creation: full joomla
New User Redirection: jomsocial main page
Enable Returning User Redirection: NO
Auto Login Facebook Users: YES
Logout Of Joomla Only: NO
Enable Logout Redirection: YES
Logout Redirection: jomsocial main page

Display API Errors On Front-End is now also set to YES
For jomsocial profile settings
Show Non-Mapped Required Fields: YES

My problems are:
1- the registration using JFBC: when I click on the FB icon I have the 1st FB application pop-up, accept it, then the FB page asking to grant permissions, accept it, and then no registering screen, it just come back to my homepage and the user is not registered. (but yesterday it worked and I managed to see the registration screen, but since then, just the loop)
2- the logout with jomsocial module (hellome): once an user is logged through FB, if he clicks on the hellome logout button then I get a 404 (it removes a letter in the URL! very strange). However if you click on the JFBC logout button, it logs you out from JFBC module BUT remains connected via jomsocial module. Then pressing the logout from the hellome works (and only if you did it in this order). Seems a problem with my logout option not working?? Had a look on the forum but just found this thread www.sourcecoast.com/forums/topic?id=130
JFBCComments & invite working with no problems.
Hope you can help me!
Regards
Ved.

Ved,
We can definitely help, and sorry you're running into trouble.

To start, the user plugin ordering requirement is no longer required as of the 3.2.x release, so that shouldn't be a concern at all. If you still see documentation about that somewhere (not in the forums), please let us know.. it should be removed.

Regarding the rest of your problems, they seem 'link' related. Do you have any SEF extensions enabled on your site, including core Joomla SEF? If it's a 3rd party extension, please try to see if there's a way to skip generating URLs for JFBConnect. If not, try (just temporarily) disabling the extension altogether to see if things work normally. If so, we'll help you figure out a good configuration for the extension so that it plays nice with JFBConnect.

As for the logout issue, if you're using a non-JFBConnect logout button on your site, please disable the "Automatically log Facebook Users In" setting. A non-JFBConnect logout button won't log the user out of Facebook, which will then cause JFBConnect to automatically log them back in. We're working on some ways to hook into any Logout button, but don't have that ability yet.

Hopefully the above will get you started, but if you run into other issues, or the above brings something else to light, let us know and we'll help you get to the bottom of it!

Thanks,
Alex

Thanks Alex for your quick support.
- I confirm, it's a SEF problem. I use SEF Advance and it's set up to ignore all components but Jreviews. But I disabled it totally and registering via FB worked flawless. Problem is that I have 10.000 items indexed in google with SEF Advance so really need your help to fine tune it!!!
- Regarding Jomsocial login module, I understand the login/logout loop it causes. But in the case I "hide" the logout button from the Hellome module, connect with FB, and then loggout with JFBlogin module, the hellome would still shows the user connected (this is what happens if I just ignore the hellome logout button) In other words, does it mean that I can't use the jomsocial hellome at the same time with the "Automatically log Facebook Users In" setting?
Hope we'll sort it out quickly as I'm looking forward to enable your attractive FB invite module :)

Ved,
We've had a few reports about issues with SEF Advance, and them not properly ignoring JFBConnect when told to. Unfortunately, their extension is encrypted, so there's not much we can do about it other than let you know to ask for support from them to understand why it's not properly skipping extensions when prompted too. If you can post (or private message us) the URL for your site, we can tell very quickly if the URLs for JFBConnect are correct. Facebook sends very specific URLs to us, and if they're modified, bad things can happen to our verification of the user. We work just fine with sh404SEF, Ace SEF, and Joomla SEF, but SEF Advance has been hit or miss. There are users who have gotten it to successfully work, but we haven't received a lot of feedback on 'how'..

As for the Logout issue, what you say should work. My guess, again, is that the URL we're trying to use to log the user out of Facebook and Joomla is being modified in a way that it's preventing the proper logout sequence from occurring. That, or there is a possible Javascript error on the page which is preventing the logout flow from happening correctly.

Again, if we can see the page, that may help diagnose things further, but not sure I'm going to have a great solution for you immediately. Hopefully, it will be something easy though!

I don't know if I can help here or not ... I'm also using SEF Advance and so far I'm not having issues (thanks VERY much to the support here BTW!!). I have SEF Advance enabled for all components, including this one. I have attached a screenshot of my settings just so you can compare to see if they are different from yours. It may be something with that. Also I am currently running the 3.2.1 version of JFBConnect and the latest update of SEF Advanced. I'm also running Joomal 1.5.23 with PHP 5.2.17 ... don't know if that helps you but it might ;-)

Are there currently any pressing reasons to upgrade JFBC to the latest revision?

Mark,
Thanks for chiming in. I actually found your thread while researching this one because I remembered you used SEF Advance. I knew there were some issues you were having, but it didn't come down to SEF Advance in your case. Finally, for Joomla 1.5, 3.2.1 is the most recent release. We released 3.3.0 for Joomla 1.6 only. There's no feature difference in the 2 releases. We're planning to 'up' the revision of both soon to the same 3.x version number to avoid confusion, and both will be actively developed side-by-side for quite some time (Joomla 1.6 isn't our priority).

Ved,
I'v seen your PM and will be investigating your site shortly to hopefully determine the cause, if it's SEF Advance at all.

Thanks,
Alex

Ved,
I just played around on your site, and the URLs are definitely being modified. This may not be the problem, but I just don't know immediately. Can you try changing the "Require Profile Data Permissions:" to Yes in the Permissions area of the configuration section? That will help me see another of the URLs that we use by looking at the front-end. It may (though unlikely) also change the behavior of the registration process.

Mark,
I also just tried your site to see what the URLs for JFBConnect look like there, and the site isn't coming up for me. Just want to make sure this is expected, or know. In Chrome, I'm getting "Oops! Google Chrome could not connect to barkleyandpaws.com"

I've changed the setting in configuration as requested. Did not solve the registration link problem as expected but will let you check it out.
Thanks again
