Log in page??? was created by Daro
If I want users to log in as full members using JFBC they get sent to a log in page for their username etc, is this right? Many of my users don't speak English and I want them to use JFBC as a shortcut in the same way as the Jomsocial version. If I use the Facebook only version then their username becomes a series of long numbers which they cant change. Is there a way to get around this login page?

The only way to get around the Login/Register page is to use the Facebook User Only option. The login/register page text is completely customizeable through the language files, if you know the language of your visitors. Alternatively, for the Facebook User option, we can help you to change the username to something you'd prefer instead of fb_12345. However, please note that all usernames on your site must be unique, so there needs to be some 'randomness' to the usernames... that way, if two John Jones register, their usernames won't both try to be "John.Jones" or something.

Hope that helps explain, and let us know if you have any suggestions of how you'd like it to work!

Hi, thanks for replying. The Jomsocial version instantly imports the username without a separate registration so I don't understand why it's a problem, but if there was a second John Jones and he became John Jones2 then I wouldn't have a problem with that either. As for the login page it's less about the language and more about the inconvenience and any confusion, and avoiding these things is surely the point of the FBC button in the first place.

Daro,
I'm not sure what version of JomSocial you're using, but we're unsure of any way to configure it to automatically generate a username on registration. Normally, it asks for the user to select a username. How do you have JomSocial configured to enable that setting? We are aware of the ability to link accounts, which we also can do in either the Full Joomla User mode (by asking the user to login with the account they want to link to) or in both Full User and Facebook User Only mode by setting the "Automatically Link Accounts By Email" setting.

As for how to update the auto-generated username, try taking a look at the post below. It shows how to set the username to "John_Jones123456". Hopefully that will work out for you:

Thanks,

I'm sorry I'm wrong about the automatic import of usernames, I've just done a test and your completely right. On the page you suggested it talks about the Facebook user's real name rather than their username ie John Jones rather than JJonsey is that right? If so is there a way to change it to the username?

Thanks.

Daro,
That post above is how to change the Facebook User Only auto-generated username of fb_123456 to John_Jones123456. It's not the full name that's setting, that will be imported automatically, and as expected, to the "Full Name" field within JomSocial. The username, I thought, is what you're trying to change.

Hope that helps, but if you need more help, just let us know!

Ok its sorted thanks, can I ask you, I've sent out invites from the invite module which says is expired and when people are clicking on the 'go to' button then facebook is telling them they clicked on 'ignore', what is the problem?

Thanks for your time.

Usually, the auto-ignore is happening with the "Invitee URL" is invalidly specified in the JFBCInvite parameters. Make sure:
1) It's a full url, including http://
2) That it's reachable without any redirects. The user shouldn't have to log in to see the contents of the page, or anything else like that.

Facebook 'looks' at the destination URL of all invites, and if they can't see the content, or it redirects, they can deny the user from actually visiting it for security purposes.

Hope that helps!
