Topic-icon JFBC only logs in when auto login is enabled. Suggestions?

Using JFBC to login to the site it will show the FB login auth window and then it will go away and the page will refresh as if logging you in, however it's not.

I've tried to test a few different things, with no luck. Problem started with the new version of JFBC. It will only login correctly with FB if it's set to do it automatically and logout of FB/Joomla is set to yes.

Paul,
There was a platform update to Facebook yesterday which modified their Javascript. This caused an incompatibility with logging in across many Facebook sites (not just JFBConnect). They've already pushed out a bug-fix, which is slowly rolling out. Can you try closing the browser and reloading your site? That should get the new Javascript, which will hopefully fix your issue.

If it doesn't, please post (or private message) us the URL of your site so we can test. Also, let us know when you installed the new version.. hopefully it's just a coincidence with Facebook's update, but if not, we'll get you going!

Thanks,
Alex

Thank you for the fast response!

I downloaded and installed the update as soon as it had been emailed that it was available. I noticed the issue, but assumed maybe it was buggy, and used "hello me" for the time being. I like the mod_jfbclogin better, but like I said it doesn't seem to be working correctly. I have tried Firefox (primary browser), Opera and Chrome; all with the same results.

The site is www.vetawarenesscoalition.com

Any help is appreciated.

That's very strange... I have a few suggestions and a few questions:
Things to check:
* Disable JomSocial's integration by removing the API/Secret keys from their Facebook Connect area. There should only be one Facebook Connect extension running on your site or Facebook can get confused
* You seem to have a mix of hard-coded www vs non-www links. The contact-us form, in particular is always non-www. The rest seem to be based off whatever the current page is. This isn't normally an issue, but please check that your Facebook application is configured with the following settings:
Site URL: www.vetawarenesscoalition.com/
Base URL: vetawarenesscoalition.com
* There's a few Javascript errors on your page dealing with your Digg links. I'm not sure how those are being inserted, but if you can (temporarily) disable the Digg stuff to see if that fixes it, that'd be great. I don't think this is the cause, but worth a shot.
* Make sure the JFBC Authentication and JFBC User plugins are published

If none of the above help or ring any bells, can you try enabling the "Show Facebook API Errors on Front-End" setting in the Facebook API configuration tab and see if there are any errors reported when trying to login? Also, what SEF extension are you using? Every once in a while, there's some special settings you may need to use if not using the built-in Joomla core SEF.

Hope this all helps get you going, and no problem about the support. It's what we do, and thanks for your subscription so that we can do it!

Hmmm, ok.....

I saw in another post about the API key and secret only being needed once, so they were removed from Jomsocial.....

Share plugin disabled.....

FB application is setup exactly as you suggested.....

JFBC Auth and User plugins were enabled.....

Showing API errors on the front end displays nothing......

JoomSEF is what is used for SEO friendly URL's (Joomla's standard wasn't working properly initially) Disabling this will wreck all links, but it has been working fine without issues.

Should I try unistalling all of JFBC and reinstalling? Pain in the rear, but if it will help......
It's odd because it works fine if I enable auto login with FB credentials, but otherwise it seems to auth via FB and then when it refreshes to show the logged in status you're not actually logged in.

After looking at your page again, I can say 100% that it's something with your JoomSEF. I just looked at one of the URLs it's generating for us, and it's missing a lot of required stuff. Can you please look at JoomSEF's configuration and see if there's a way to tell it to skip generation of SEF URLs for JFBConnect? If not, I still think there's some other ways around the problem, but that would be the easiest, and most forward-compatible solution.

By no means will we say you have to disable JoomSEF, we'll just need to figure out the best way to make our extensions play well together.

Finally, for installing JFBConnect we keep the settings in the database, so re-installing generally shouldn't cause too much havoc..it's definitely not necessary in this case though. For future reference though, you can simply install JFBConnect again without uninstalling it first. Easy peasy (hopefully).

Let us know what you find!

Genius!

Thank you! Not sure why it wasn't affecting JFBC before the install of the upgrade, but I disabled all SEO of anything to do with JFBC and it's all functioning fine now.

Thank you!

No problem. It's what we do. If you ever run into issues, don't just assume it's a bug that will be fixed... we test our extensions very thoroughly before we release them, but obviously can't test every combination. Glad we got you going, and definitely keep in touch should anything else crop up!

I just added a month to your subscription, since 3.2.x has been out about a month, and frankly, that's a positive site you've got there that we're happy to be a part of. Best of luck to you and your site.

If you're happy with JFBConnect, or our support, please consider leaving a rating and review on the JED. It's certainly not required, but very appreciated!

Thanks,
Alex
