Topic-icon Developer error when trying to create app JFBC

FB Developer after correct CAPTCHA words entered: "Sorry, something went wrong. We're working on getting this fixed as soon as we can."

Been getting this repeatedly for last 18 hours when I try to create an app as per the second step of your configuration guide. The only additional thing I can find, which you did not list but I have also done, is to verify my developer account with my mobile phone number.

Am I doing something wrong here?

Thanks, Mike Welsh

Medlink,
I'm not sure, we can investigate further, but haven't heard of this issue. Do you have an active subscription? Priority support is for subscribers only.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex,

Yes I am subscribed ID1610. My post was from my other Facebook profile that I was trying to set the App up with.

Thanks, Mike Welsh

Mike,
No problem. If you'd prefer to post from the other account, we can easily move the subscription to that account.

As for the captcha issue, that's something new that Facebook added within the last week. We just tried to create a new app (we have many) and, while the captcha was very hard to read, it worked for us. Can you try again? With it's new-ness, their system may have just been broken temporarily. Unfortunately, that's about the best advice we can give since that's one aspect we have no control over.

Keep us posted on what you find. No one else has reported this issue, so other things to try are from a different browser and or a different computer. Simply closing (and clearing cookies) from your current browser may help as well, depending on what Facebook's doing on their end.

Sorry about not including the verification step.. that's something we need to add to the guide as well.

Good luck!

Hi,

Cleared cookies. Tried different computers with Firefox and IE. Same error.

Have posted error on FB Developers forum under desktop applications.

Had 3 replies from others with same problem but no-one from FB has replied and it is not listed in their status issues.

Do you have a back door contact to them to raise this issue with them?

Thanks, Mike.

You can try this page.. I think you get the same app, eventually, but can't guarantee it. It's not the recommended path, but may work for you. It does have a captcha too, but it's on a different page... so maybe it works there.
developers.facebook.com/setup/

I also just tried to create about 10 apps, and 8 out of the 10 times was a small captcha of 4 letters with a small box around it. The other 2 times was a much larger box with 2 captcha words.. looked very much like re-captcha, if you know what I mean. You may want to try a few times to see if you can get that one.. it may work better, but it may just be luck.

Sorry for the troubles.

We just tried to create another app, and it's still working for us. Again, there are 2 different types of captchas that are showing. If you click the "What is this?" box, it will let you know if it's using a ReCaptcha or not. Try to create the app a few times (sorry) and see if you can try both types of captchas (ReCaptcha - 2 words, FB Captcha - 1 word) and see if either works.

Additionally, you may want to try from a different browser. Unfortunately, there's not much we can do about this, and from our end, it does appear to be working now.

Maybe someone above can let us know if it worked for them, or if they needed to do anything special.
