Topic-icon JFBConnect creating new fields in Jomsocial on login

Hi:
It seems that JFBConnect is getting information from facebook upon new logins but it also looks like it is creating new fields with the info instead of mapping it. When I look at my profile in Jomsocial, I have two fields of everything (first name, last name, and so forth). It also is not importing the college info to Jomsocial.

Any help work be appreciated.

Thanks.

That's obviously not right. What version of the JomSocial and what version of the JFBConnect JomSocial plugin are you using (you can see on the Overview page)?

Also, can you check the field mapping that you have setup in the JFBConnect/JomSocial profile page and just make sure things seem right there.. finally, hit apply to save the settings again. If you setup a mapping, and then modified the JomSocial fields, it may have cause a problem (though we've tested before that it shouldn't), just a shot.

Hopefully, with the version information we can test further, and if there's a problem, we'll find it.

Leo,
Just wanted to give you an update.. we didn't get to testing of this today, and for that we apologize. We should be on your site tomorrow and hopefully have some good news for you then. We'll get you going soon, and thanks for your patience.

Leo,
I got in played around on your test site a bit today without being able to recreate the issue at all. I can see the one user you mention who has duplicate fields, but I tried the following scenarios, and in both cases, my profile was imported normally and without duplicates.

The first time I tried to register, I ran into a few minor redirection issues. I fixed this by going into the "Extensions" area of AceSEF and telling it to skip JFBConnect. We only have 1 url page for JFBConnect, so this isn't a big deal. After that, I did everything below and it worked normall:

1) Registered a new user through Facebook. In this case I was redirected (after creating my account) to the "Verify Information" form which was blank. This confused me at first, but I realized this wasn't my JomSocial profile... after going to my JS profile, my information was all there including my avatar.
2) Then, thinking that maybe it was an issue with associating a 'new' Facebook user to an existing account, I deleted the above user.
I then registered through JS normally.
I logged in, to check my (empty) profile.
I then logged in through Facebook and used the left-hand form to login with an existing Joomla account
My profile was imported and everything was normal.

I'm not sure where I'm going wrong (or right), but if you can test and recreate the issue, that'd be great. Did this only happen with that specific user one time, or has it happened multiple times? Obviously, it shouldn't ever happen, but I just can't get to the bottom of it.

Hopefully, it was just the SEF issue, but let us know what you find and we'll help however we can!

I have been using the same Facebook account to test the site, but I have been assigning it to a different, newly created user when I log in. If I have a problem, I just go into the control panel and delete the user. I then tweak settings in the backend and re-log in using the same Facebook account but creating a different user.

Maybe I should use a different Facebook account.

Yeah, test with a different Facebook account, though it shouldn't make a difference.

Also, when you delete the user, do it from the Joomla User Manager, not within JomSocial. It should work from either, but that's how we did it, so want to have you try the same tests.

As always, let us know what you find and how it goes!

Tried with a new Facebook account and I am still getting duplicate fields. When you did step #1 did you check the user file that was created before you deleted it? In your step #2 you just linked your Facebook account to your exiting Joomla user account, but that user account was created by typing in your info. I think the problem happens when jfblogin creates a new account using the "login via Facebook icon".

Leo,
Sorry for the delayed response.

I just re-logged into the site, and see the issue and what you're talking about. While I thought I had checked the user's JomSocial profile in the admin area, I guess I missed it. On the front-end, I only see the single fields, because blank ones don't display. We are making some minor changes to the JomSocial plugin now to update it more for the 2.2 release, which obviously changed more than we expected. I'll definitely be checking if this is something we can easily recreate on our end, and will fix in the next release (due soon). It's possible we've just been missing this duplication in the new release, and thanks for pointing it out!

I'll post back here shortly with updated status.

Leo,
I just upgraded your JomSocial profile plugin to 3.2.2, which should fix this issue. I also registered a new account and it seemed good to go. As always, please test.

I'll be uploading the new version to the download area shortly, so you'll be able to get a copy of it there when you want to install it on the live site.

Very sorry for the troubles, and thanks for your patience. If you run into anything else, or need more assistance, just let us know!
Alex
