Alex,
This is my first extension install on my first website. I am almost to the end of the install and I don't know what this means and what I should do. Yeah!
"JFBC Like JFBCComments To add functionality with the configurable styling, add the following tags."
I am confused about the what/where the tag should go and also the url bullet.

Glad to hear you're getting through it. JFBConnect, we think, is relatively easy to install if you've installed other extensions.. but it can definitely be complex. Hopefully, for your first extension, it's not too bad. Certainly if you have any suggestions on how to improve things, let us know!

Basically, those tags on that page can be added anywhere on your site that content is displayed. So, for example, if you wanted you could create a "Custom HTML" module. This module lets you put HTML directly onto the page. So, once that's created, you can simply add { JFBCLike} (no space) to the content area of the module and it will appear wherever you put that module. You can also add the {} tags to your Joomla template or other 'coded' places on your site, but I'd recommend just starting the Custom HTML approach for now.. it's the simplest way to start.

Please note, that all of the {} tags also have a module that you oould simply use instead. For example, you could use the JFBCLike, JFBComments, or other modules to simply insert these widgets wherever you want.

Hope this helps explain. The {} tags are a bit more advanced, but give you the flexibility to add the widgets in non-standard (non-module) positions on the site.

If you have any other questions, just let us know. If anything in Joomla's confusing you as well, don't hesitate to ask. We don't mind generic 'how do you do this' questions :)

Good luck!

Alex,
Whoo Hoo! I created the custom HTML module. The "like button/comments" appear after every article! Yeah! But after the comments the a second "Like button" appears with the wording "facebook social plugin" at the end of each article.
Question 1- What did I do? How do I remove it?
Question 2- There are some articles that I don't want the "comments/ like" functionality to appear. How can I eliminate this feature from those pages?
Question 3- Is it possible to insert the like button/comments within an article? How?
Thank you for your help and kind words to a newbie like me.

Hi there! If you just want Comments or Likes on your article pages, you may want to look into using our JFBCContent plugin. It has some options and allows you to automatically have those widgets added to each article.

As for your other questions:
1) Unfortunately, Facebook recently added a Like button to the Comment box. If you use the JFBCContent plugin, there is an option to remove the 'extra' Like button. Just so you know, when we release 3.2 in a couple of weeks, there will be a much improved system for adding comments and likes to articles (easier configuration)
2) In 3.2, yes, it will be very simple. Right now, if you're using JFBCContent, no. Sorry. If you're using the Custom HTML module, you'd need to set it to only show on the menu items you want. If your articles that you don't want the widgets to show in are in menu groups that you also want it to show in, then there really isn't an easy way right now.
3) Yes, very easily. Just like you did in the Custom HTML module, you can add the same {JFBCxxx} tag in the article for the comment or like button.

Hope this all helps, and good luck!

Alex,
I am using the JFB Content. I was able to eliminate the second like box as per your instructions. Thank you. I am going to wait for 3.2 in order to eliminate "comment/likes" from certain articles. Lastly, in 3.2, will I be able to insert "Like/Comments" with in a article? Even though I created the HTML, JFB Content is so easy.

3.2 should have all the same capabilities as 3.1, so if you can do it now, you'll be able to do it in 3.2. The newer version will just add more features, easier configuration, and more flexibility all around-- as well as inclusion or exclusion of specific articles, categories, and sections for the Content plugin.

Hope that answers your question, but if there was something else you were looking for, just let us know!
