hello,

im having a login problem using ie7. the FB window comes up (its awfully slow though) but when the data has been entered i get a 404 error message (after a while).

debugging mode on outputs this:

USER wrote: Call stack
# Function Location
1 JSite->dispatch() /var/www/web1272/html/index.php:68
2 JComponentHelper->renderComponent() /var/www/web1272/html/includes/application.php:124
3 JError->raiseError() /var/www/web1272/html/libraries/joomla/application/component/helper.php:95
4 JError->raise() /var/www/web1272/html/libraries/joomla/error/error.php:171
5 JException->__construct() /var/www/web1272/html/libraries/joomla/error/error.php:136

any ideas what the problem can be?

Can you let me know the URL that the 404 error is going to? That will help make sense of the debug log, which isn't telling me very uch.

Is this also after an initial registration (first time user) or a returning Facebook user?

hello Alex!

the link is vodes.net.

ive deleted the user manually (from vm database and synchronised CB users with their db tools) and cleared the browser cache. its the same (FB window comes up, after typing login data i get the 404 error message). ive been turning off a couple of plugins, but its still not working.

im using the cb login module, but im logging into FB with the [JFBCLogin] tag embedded into the module.

Markus,
We can see the error too, which is a good thing for debugging. However, we aren't sure what's going on, and why it's specific to IE.

However, I do have a recommendation. You're using a SEF extension for Joomla that doesn't appear to be the Joomla integrated one. This should be fine, but it's changing the URLs we're passing to Facebook a little bit. This is very likely what's causing some problem. Can you go into your SEF component and tell it to 'skip' all JFBConnect URLs? This is usually pretty easy, but different for every SEF component. Hopefully, that will fix you right up.

If it doesn't, we'll probably need to access the admin area of your site to investigate further.

Thanks, and good luck!

hello Alex!

indeed, there seems to be an issue with the SEF component. ive tested the plugin on a clean joomla installation just with the sef component. when the latter is activated the error comes up. without the (whole) component, its working. unfortunately its encoded. there is an option to turn it off for individual components (like JFBConnect) but it doesnt work when its turned off only for this component. rather, i need to turn off the whole thing. ill talk to the developer. there gotta be way to use both (exceptional) components. :)

thx for the assistance.

Yeah, there's got to be a way to disable their SEF router from working on JFBConnect. Not sure which extension your using, though a few guesses.. when you say it 'doesn't work when its turned off only for this component', do you mean you get the same issue still, or something else altogether?

Another suggestion is to look at the Artio SEF suggestion in our Common Support Questions section.. It's in the middle. If you're using Artio, try this:

Good luck, and keep us posted!

perhaps easiest if you see yourself. ill pm you the login data. its a clean install only with JFBC and SEF advance. with sef advance turned on, its not working. turn it off, it works. i'd like to keep both components (SEF advance converts on the fly and thereby reduces db calls a lot).it might also be the landing page (because the FB login window comes up, i can enter data there but subsequently nothing happens and eventually the 404 message comes up).

thx for the tip - sef advance lets you turn off components, but not (individual) file extensions. at least from what i know.

ill post it here when the issue is solved.

cheers

Markus,
Thanks for the login credentials. I just tried to register and login, using XP/IE7 and Win7/IE8 and didn't get the 404 error this time.

Did you fix something? I didn't change anything on the test site you sent me.. just want to know if this is still an issue.

Thanks!

hello Alex!

thx for the follow up. did you try loggin in with the sef component turned on? if the sef component is turned off (completely) then the login works also with ie7. if its turned on, it aint working. so i assume you were right on with your hint and the sef component (or more accureately IE7 as the other browser work just fine) is causing the troubles. ive talked to the developer and he will look into that. since its encoded i doubt there is much you can do about it. but i certainly appreciate your offer. :)

cheers,
