JFBConnect 3.2 added full Open Graph support. This means that you have a lot of flexibility to 'describe' your page to Facebook. In the Social tab, under Open Graph, enable support for it.

Then, you can set some defaults for your site.. like if you would like a standard image for most likes, in the box, type:
image=http://linktoyourimage

In each article or page of your site, you can override these settings and specify the shorter title or better image you'd want for just that page. In the article, or using a custom HTML module assigned to that page, simply add the following tags:
{JFBCGraph image=http://linktobetterimage.jpg}
{JFBCGraph title=Better Title - Shorter}

Hope that makes sense. The Open Graph configuration page tries to explain things there as well.

Good luck, and let us know if you need anything else!

I was just coming to look for this! Awsome about the image as fB will sometimes take a random one, like a twitter follower icon!

As for 1.6....I am encouraging all my clients to wait. None of them really care that much, they just want a stable and secure website.

Alex, thanks again for all of your hard work in implementing the Open Graph. Certainly takes the integration to a whole new level.

Rich

Glad you like the new features! We're super excited about this release as it has some big features people have been asking for as well as some behind-the-scenes improvements that make things easier for development going forward.

Next step is Joomla 1.6, and since we're really not shooting to add new features, it will hopefully be pretty straightforward. Then, we'll develop for both concurrently while Joomla 1.5 is still relevant.

Should be a good few months!

Any chance for a tiny extension for us subscribers who are desperately checking for a J1.6 version of this? My subscription expires on May 9th, and I am so broke I can't afford to spend any more. I really hate JomSocial's facebook connect features and all my sites users demanded J1.6 recently but now we don't have our wonderful JFBConnect :(

Pleeeeeeeease!!!! I even have calendar reminders in my iPhone for May 8th that alerts me "Check one last time for new JFBConnect"

I beg you for a tiny extension if it is not out before the 9th :(

Every day there are user's who subscriptions expire and new ones who sign up. It'd be impossible to come up with a cut-off or other appropriate period to add a grace period to subscriptions when a new release comes out. The best we can say, is that for users with 6 month subscriptions, we try to have at least 2 major releases out during your subscription period. For a sub that ends in early May, that means you started on 3.0 and had access (and support) for 3.1 and 3.2 as well. Hopefully, you've found that subscription to be worth it, and of course, there's always a discount for a year long subscription.

Regarding 1.6, we're shooting to have a release out by the time you mention above. However, 1.6 is new, and while we have automated tests and other things to verify every release for 1.5, those won't be (immediately) available for 1.6. In a perfect world, the first release will be perfect, but there will likely be a .1 or .2 release to fix weird issues we didn't find during testing. We don't want you to get the initial release, be disappointed, and not have access to the updates.. but we're also running a very small business and can't give things away. We'd love to, but it's just not feasible.

Hope this explains our situation, and as always, feedback welcome. If you ever feel that your subscription hasn't been worth it, we want to know and we'll do what we can to fix it.

Thanks, and good luck with your site!

Good to hear there is a version in the works for J1.6 ...My question: Is there a list we can get on to be notified when this or a beta version of this update is ready?

Right now, we email all of our registered users about new releases when they're available. We usually send out these emails about a week after the release is available, as that allows us to hear from a more limited set of users who download it first for any critical problems our testing hasn't found. For instance, the 3.2 release for JFBConnect went out last Thursday, and our newsletter will likely go out Thursday this week.

We'll do the same for the 1.6 release. Of course, you can always follow our Twitter feed or subscribe to our blog where we post updates as well.

Finally, we'll be adding a newsletter signup widget soon to subscribe to different information emails going forward (JFBConnect, new releases, PayToUpgrade, etc), allowing you to pick what you prefer to get emails about.

Hope that helps explain, and if you have feedback or suggestions, we're always listening.

It's in testing right now. There's a few minor hiccups we're working out on it, but with luck, we're shooting to have a Release Candidate version out at the end of this week/weekend. So far, it's in feature parity with the Joomla 1.5 version (with caveats - no sections.. so the content plugin doesn't have config options for sections, agora doesn't work with Joomla 1.6, so no Agora integration, etc).

The term of Release Candidate is mainly just for caution. We're using our (updated) automated test suite for the 1.5 version, and things seem great now.. but with a whole new Joomla, we want to set the right tone for the release.

Hope that helps. We're very, very excited to be compatible with Joomla 1.5 and 1.6!

That sounds like good news. If you need a beta tester later in the week let me know.
