I have turned off comments and likes on all landing pages -- home, sections and categories. But it still shows up randomly and breaks layout.
site is www.mynextkitchen.com
template is Teline IV from Joomlart

Teline has a module, News Pro that displays the blog roll instead of default joomla blog roll. For some reason, your content plugin thinks that is still article level and tries to stuff comment and like buttons in there. Of course this totally brewaks the layout.

Are you using the Like or Comments on any pages? If not, you can safely disable the Content plugin.

If that's not helpful, please post a link to a page that has the Like or Comment on it so we can see what it looks like. I clicked on a few articles, but was unable to see the Like or Comments show up anywhere.

Hope this helps. We'll get you setup either way though.

WE had to disable the plugin as the site is live. if we turn it on it totally breaks the layout of all landing pages. If you look on our homepage, the Teline IV and all new templates from JA use a module that replaces the standard joommla blog roll on blog section and blog category landing pages. It gives much more control over which articles are displayed and in which way. But, even if I turn off comment/like on home, section, and category landing pages, it still tries to stuff both the like and comment elements into that module on those landing pages. This, of course, breaks the layout as there just isn't room to place such things on those landing pages. The module is called JANewsPro and we use it on almost all our landing pages. Is there any way you can stop sending comment and like elements to this module? Our only current fix is to disable the content plugin and that kind of defeats the purpose of buying JFB...

T3 Framework or any other Framework from any company selling Joomla templates is causing problem with all this social plugins, if you go to Jomsocial their plugin to connect your profile with Facebook stopped working for a lot of people that switched template to use Framework, they in Jomsocial don't even know how to fix it, i got tired asking questions in their forums and everyday people creating new post with the same question, i don't know if they fixed or not as i said i got tired they don't reply to people posts, so i decided to come here and this is the only one out there working and my template use Framework from gavick templates, i don;t know about joomla art, but basically the Framework is causing all this problems, hopefully for everybody developers can find a work around or make it work, because right now all the guys selling joomla templates are creating these using Framework.

We're working on some large updates for the Content plugin and social widgets in general to make them easier to manage and have more functionality.

We don't normally put code for workarounds into our extensions because it (eventually) causes more trouble then it's worth.. as they update/fix their extension, maintenance as their extensions is improved, complications that the change may cause to other extensions, etc. However, if there's generic code we can put into the functionality to work around the issues in the T3 Framework, we'll do it.

I've added a task to investigate their Framework further, but it's not something we normally test with as there's simply no way to test JFBConnect with every combination of extensions out there. Your report helps us to narrow our focus though, and we appreciate your feedback.

I'm assuming that this issue has been raised with JoomlaArt? If you've received a response from them, or have any forum posts to point us to, please let us know!

Thanks,
Alex

It seems as though there is a short-term fix anyway. Yes, I contacted JA and they pointed out that in the right column of the backed of both the JA NewsPro and JA News_FP modules you can select allow Joomla content extensions. If you set that to NO then no extensions can affect the content in the module. I set my modules to NO and it worked. So now JFB only displays on article pages...excellent! It would be great, however, if once could still have the like display in nav pages but not comment as it is the comment box that breaks the layout., but to be honest i am happy with things as they are now...good FB integration and unbroken layout...thanks for the follow up Alex... your support is much better than JA I can tell you that!

Glad to hear it. I did still add a task for us to investigate the JA templates. We'll see what we can do, but again, I'm not sure if there will be a magic bullet for what you're looking for.

Best of luck, and glad to hear our support is up-to-par. It's obviously something we take seriously. If you run into any other issues, you know where to find us.

Sadly, I have the same issue going with JomSocial and a T3 Framework template from Joomlart. It seems to happen specifically with the top page. This drove me nuts with the JomSocial FB login and I finally gave up and decided to give yours a try, especially since I like the feature set more. I have configured it, but the same thing is happening as happened with JomConnect - the Facebook popup won't work on the top page, but works on all other pages. So, if I send the user to another page within the site, they can click on the FB connect button and log in, no problem. If they hit it from the top page, it clicks, but nothing happens. I have tested in both Firefox and IE8.

I do love that I can put the { JFBCLogin} code into my modules and am working to customize our site more with that - that's a great feature! Is there any way to make the button a little smaller? I know it is pulling from the Facebook site, but can we put any CSS type parameters in there as well?

Now if I can just get over this T3 hump, life will be fantastic!

Okay, I just found my answer on the JomSocial site - I had posted there a couple weeks ago and didn't notice they had replied to the thread. Here's the response and it works! Sure enough, I had 2 Joomlart plugins active and as soon as I turned them off, my top page Facebook worked great.
From JomSocial forum:
Re: facebook connect of Hello me module not working
I had a look at this and it actually had nothing to do with the template, but rather two of the Joomlart plugins (JA Facebook Share and JA Facebook Like It). These were the cause of the conflict because they were loading the Facebook javascript a second time. Once these were disabled, Jomsocial's F Connect works correctly again. Please test this again on your end and let us know it its working correctly.
Cheers ;)

I still like your Facebook feature set better, so I'm happy I spent the $50 and now I can go enjoy my supper and stop pulling my hair out!

Kelly,
Thanks you very much for letting us know the solution that worked for you! The first thing we look for, when users report issues, is at the HTML to see if the Facebook Javascript library is loaded outside of JFBConnect. It definitely causes issues, for multiple reasons, and weren't aware that the JoomlaArt templates shipped with their own Facebook plugins.

We really appreciate the tip, and hadn't noticed the problem on the sites mentioned above, but hopefully this will work for them as well.

Glad to hear you like our stuff more.. it's definitely more specialized than tacked on support to extensions meant for other purposes, and that's what you subscribe for, so thank you! If you run into any other issues or have suggestions/feedback, you know where to find us!
