I have installed 3 modules related to this plugin.
logi, connect, and invite

I only see these in Modules Manager
JFBCLogin
JFBCInvite

Under Components
JFB Connect

I have put in my API from facebook.
Not sure what to put under Facebook test user ID, so I put in my facebook login in username.

This is all I know to do. Are there any further instructions. As stated earlier I'm not getting content in the pop up and also the text "JFBCINVITE" shows up below the "FaceBook Connect" but there is no link or button to click on.

talthompson,

Sorry about the issues you are having. I'm planning on creating more videos to show how to configure everything, but haven't had the time yet.

First thing I would try is checking your Facebook application settings? Go to [url:o21ycbdb]http://www.facebook.com/developers/[/url:o21ycbdb] and select the application you created. Make sure the API key matches the one you set in the parameters. Also, make sure the callback URL matches the site you are using JFBConnect on. For the demo on CMSMarket ([url:o21ycbdb]http://www.cmsmarket.com/community/cmsm-groups/invite-your-friends[/url:o21ycbdb]), the callback URL is [url:o21ycbdb]http://www.cmsmarket.com/[/url:o21ycbdb].

Next, try going to the following URL on your site (make sure to change the domain to match yours):
[url:o21ycbdb]http://CHANGETOYOURDOMAIN/index.php?option=com_jfbconnect&view=xdreceiver&format=raw[/url:o21ycbdb]

The page will be blank, but you will see a script include tag if you view the source. Facebook requires this page to exist on your site to use Facebook Connect. From the error message you listed below (500 - View not found [name, type, prefix]: xdreceiver, fbml, facebookView), it sounds like it may be having issues getting to that view. This could be caused by a bad callback url, using an SEF component on your Joomla site, etc. As long as you can call the page in a browser, though, Facebook should be able to call it as well.

The test user parameter isn't used for live functionality. There are 3 demo views that come with the JFBConnect component that Facebook provides in their "Trying out Facebook Connect" tutorial and the second one needs a Facebook user ID. You can see the different demo views by adding a new menu item to your site and looking under the JFBConnect component. These are just for demonstration purposes, so I wouldn't make the menu item available to the public :D

If none of this fixes your issue, send us some more info about your setup:

- Windows or Linux?
- PHP version?
- Joomla version?
- Do you have any SEF (core or component) running on your Joomla site?

Let us know how it goes,
Will

With a facebook user logged in, shouldn't they show up as a guest user and be able to participate in other site features where joomla guest users are given access, like forums, etc..

How do you change the invitee message from reading "You have a XFBML invitations, "
and "You have xfbml invitations." to something less technical and threatening?

Go into the Module Manager and edit the JFBCInvite module parameters. The JFBCInvite page on CMS Market gives a little info about the different things you can set:
[url:1nuqvn5p]http://www.cmsmarket.com/extensions-directory/listings/Extension+Specific/JFBConnect/JFBCInvite[/url:1nuqvn5p]

I will try to get some better documentation for the parameters up there tomorrow.

Anyone on your Joomla site is already a guest. Are you asking about having JFBConnect create a temporary Joomla account for the user? If so, that functionality currently isn't available but we're investigating adding it.

We'll keep you posted. Thanks,
Will

Good work so far. I know you are planning to add more features. I thought I'd suggest some as well.

Tthe main reason for allowing FB connection is to easily obtain user contact info and to allow facebook users to provide content to my site.
I had tried using an older FB connection module that was free. It allowed you to store the FB contact info into the Joomla user mangaer. If someone logs in from FB they should be able to post a question or write an article, then a link to that article should be posted back on their FB wall.

I don't understand what the whole point of this component is. I mean if the users can't login with their facebook account, or create a NEW account using their facebook id - what the heck is the point? You have to manually map existing users to facebook - meaning they have to have 2 accounts, and you have to do the work yourself to manually link these - this is not worth 15 buck IMHO. You shouldn't have released this until it actually offers some function people can use, like logging into a Joomla site with nothing but your facebook id.

I would have to agree. Please let us know what your plans are. You are heading in the right direction, but as of yet I don't see the value of this. Please keep us informed of a update that would bring real value to this plug in. Good Luck!
