Hello,
Joomla 1.5.22
JomSocial 2.0.4
JFBConnect 3.1.2
Site: www.catholictechtalk.com

I'm stumped on this one...

FBConnect tested fine on all Mac browsers. On Windows XP, I tested Chrome with no problems. When I tried with IE8 however, it would just take me back to the login page.

I cleared the local IE8 cache - still didn't work.

Tried again in IE8 'Compatibilty Mode' - and it worked. I turned off 'Compatibility Mode' and tried again...and strangely... it worked.

I haven't tried on another machine yet, but has anyone else encountered this?

Thanks in advance,
Craig

UPDATE: I just tested it in IE7 on XP with no issues.

We're looking into this. We test JFBConnect across a variety of OS's and browsers before release, and didn't catch this problem during that testing. We're updating our tests to try and recreate the issue and will let you know what we find ASAP (should be recreating it later today). WinXP+IE8 is definitely supported by us, and has worked in the past, so if there's something we can do on our end, we definitely will.

Thanks for your details!

Thanks for the update Alex!

I've enabled the IE8 compatibility plugin (emulating IE7) for a temporary fix.

Day 2 and I notice that WinXP+IE8 sometimes works.
Tried on two separate computers, it didnt work night before so I shut them both down and went to bed.
I started them in the morning and both worked. I restarted one of them, it didnt work.

To summarize: problem seems to be on and off?

Ps. Logging in to FB initiates two separate windows:
1. facebook.com/dialog/ ....something
2. XD proxy ....something
Sometimes the XDproxy windows just freezes (do not self-close).
The process of opening and closing both of them takes time.....

Hi Pelle,
Not sure if you're trying to log into my site (www.catholictechtalk.com), but I enabled IE8 compatibility mode on my site to emulate IE7. So...I'm probably not the best test site any longer...

Thx!

Hi Craig
no I am not trying to log in to your site :-)
I have PM:d Alzander with additional information and awaits his response.

Just to be clear:
this issue appears on ONE of my computers, ONLY when using XP+IE8 and ONLY when logging in to MY site. I have voluntered to assist in testing, if I can. I am not sure how though.

Having read the forum my problem seems similar to this one:
www.sourcecoast.com/forums/topic?id=1293
(Javascript error?)

EDIT: Problem now confirmed on more than one computer.
XP+IE8= does not login the user
Vista+IE8 = does not login the user

Pelle,
Sorry for the massive delay here. You just mentioned this post in another thread, and we obviously neglected this thread.

I just tried to register on your site in both WinXP and Win7 using IE8. In both cases, I removed the application from my Facebook account before each attempt so that I'd have to re-approve it when clicking the button. In both cases, the pop-up dissappeared, and I was brought to JFBConnect's Login/Register page, as expected. The pop-up did not remain. However, on Win7 I then registered. On re-logging in and out multiple times, the pop-up does not remain. I'll test logging in again on WinXP.

Can you tell me what SEF extension you're using for SEF URL's, or if you're using Joomla's built-in SEF functionality? We've recently debugged some minor issues with Artio and a few other components, which may be causing the problems you're having (if you're still seeing them). I know you sent admin credentials once before, but I don't have them anymore as we periodically purge credentials from our PM area for security reasons.

Let us know if you've learned any more about this issue, and we'll do what we can to fix things as soon as possible.

Thanks,
Alex

I am using Joomla built-in SEO (no plugin).
You now have admin rights.

Pelle,
Got into your site to do some debugging. No solutions, but found some weird behavior that may trigger a bell with you, hopefully...

The main oddity I found is that no forms are being submitted properly with IE8 on WindowsXP. I've never seen anything like this, but it's not specific to JFBConnect. I enabled the default Joomla Login module, and was unable to login with my normal Joomla account with that either. If you could verify that's true for you as well, that may help narrow things down.
Some things I tried which did -not- fix the issue (I still couldn't log in through the standard Joomla module):
* Disabling Joomla core SEF
* Changing your template to the other one you had installed

It's possible it's something with your .htaccess file that is changing behavior of the POSTs for forms. There's plenty of other server settings that could be causing issues, but I don't know your system that well. Hopefully, the above gives you a little more to start tracking down some of the issues you're having. Please verify what I said above.

Good luck, and let us know how it goes!
