We're looking into a few issues that have been reported on IE8. We'll keep you posted as we figure them out, unfortunately, some seem to be an artifact of how Facebook Connect functions, and will require fixes on their end.. We will fix what we can though.

Hi there...

I'm experiencing the same problem with IE8.
I don't know if this is helpful to you or not, but cnet.com uses a Facebook login, and it works on IE8. Of course, I can't begin to know all the differences between their system and Joomla, but I thought I'd mention it in case it's helpful.

We've put some new fixes in the last few releases for this issue.. guess we didn't catch everything.

Can you provide a site that you're experiencing this on so we can check it out?

You bet...and thank you.

Please check out <!-- w --><a class="postlink" href="www.DailyDevos.org">www.DailyDevos.org. I can't get the button to appear in IE8. Works fine in Firefox 3.

Please let me know if you need any back end access, but it's working great in FF.

thanks!

I don't need back-end access just yet. There's something strange going on on your server and/or site that you may need your tech support to investigate.

If you go to the below site and enter your address, you'll see that the headers on your site are returning a "Temporarily Moved" return header, which then points to the same page. This is not normal. If you put in the non-www address, you get a "Permanently Moved" and it points to the www version (which is good/correct). I'm not sure this is the cause, but it could easily be something that Facebook/IE is having issues with.
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="www.webconfs.com/http-header-check.php">www.webconfs.com/http-header-check.php

I don't know where this is coming from, but a quick option to check if it fixes it is to turn off all SEO and then rename your .htaccess file to something else (so it's not used). That's a very common place for header redirects, but it can be done elsewhere.

Again, this may not be the cause, and if you're confident it isn't, let me know and I can investigate further. You'll want to fix this to return a normal status (code 200) no matter what as this will hurt your search ranking.

THANK YOU for calling my attention to that header problem.

I managed to track it down to a plugin called Mobile Plugin that detects a mobile device and shows a simpler template. Apparently it was using some kind of a redirect or something. As soon as I disabled it, I got an OK with the webmaster tools you sent me. Luckily it had only been enabled for a few days, so I don;t think Google is too mad at me yet.

So that is fixed, but alas, still no love from IE8.

I appreciate your looking into this.
I seem to be having the problem in IE 7 as well.

Hi I'm having a problem such as this but only experience it with my custom template.

Using the Joomla default templates such as JaPurity the Facebook Connect button shows up. I have inspected the code (using FireBug) surrounding the module and found that the fb:login-button shows up faded.

Is there something missing from my template why this is happening?

Can you send me a link to your page? The main thing that a template can do to prevent JFBConnect operations is to disable the inclusion of mootools. We require this. The other thing is if there is poor javascript coding or open html tags which can cause Facebooks post-parsing of your page to fail. Hopefully, this isn't the case, but it's something to look for.

If you find a cause, definitely let us know. We're putting together an FAQ on our JFBConnect.com site that we'd like to include common pitfalls on.
