Topic-icon Suggestion: Grant for permission of sending email later

I suggest we could add a module with button for user to give permission of sending email(maybe others like post message) after their registration. This can give flexibility for the site and user.

BTW, is there any promotion campaign with Jomsocial in your company that can enjoy discount?

Thanks for your answer, Alex=]

I'm not exactly sure what you mean. When you say permission of sending email, do you mean getting their real email from Facebook? We already have that as a setting in the admin area to make it optional, but if you do, it will ask the user when the log in each time.

We have some ideas to make posting to walls and status updates more easily pushed to Facebook with some easy to use Javascript calls. They're in the works, and will be behind the release of (the already late) v3.1.

If you can explain more exactly what your looking for, we may be able to help you figure out how to do it now, or let you know if it's something we'd look into in the future.

Thanks!

For example, if user accept the request from 1st permissions box but deny the 2nd one (email sending or status updating), they have chance to give the permission later by that button when my site has promotion later.

For the button, it would show the 2nd permissions box again for the above users. If someone accepted both box before, the button can do nothing or just invisible.
I think this could give more flexibility to the site and users.

PS: One more important thing, I know that Jomsocial has developed a Facebook Connect add-on for their platform, and the whole Jomsocial Standard set is just USD$99 per year(usually has 10%-35%discount), which is just a little bit more than JFConnect.......
Although there are some options like updating wall is not available in that add-on right now, but I think it would come soon. Some Jomsocial users may not continue to use JFConnect if the function of it cannot improve quickly....., or some JFConnect user may even subscribe Jomsocial just for the Facebook Connect part because of cost-effectiveness.

Sorry for giving you stress, but it's the fact......

Competitions good :) It doesn't stress us out, and we all work together in many ways. We've worked with the JomSocial team on a few things in the past, and I think that will continue going forward.

As for the permissions box, I like the suggestion. There was another user who asked for a way to specify permissions independently in the back-end. That way, even if you weren't currently publishing to the wall (lets say), you could still request that permission so you could do it later. Same with offline or other activities. These are things we're planning on adding, and I like the idea of a permission box where you can specify some permissions to request as well.

It won't be immediate, but tighter integration between Joomla and Facebook for things like posting and reading of data (outside of just authentication) is where the next big leaps in JFBConnect will come from.
