I'm having a problem where users occasionally receive an e-mail saying "Your Registration is Pending Approval." We don't have registration approvals active on our site and it only appears to be happening with people using JFBConnect.

Here is what I think is happening, although it's hard to test.

1) User selects JFB to register.
2) They receive to request to let the site see their Facebook account information
3) They say no, but JFB/CB continues the registration process.
4) When the process is complete, a user record is created, but ***it's missing the user's first name and last name***
5) A pending confirmation e-mail is sent, but no link to confirm e-mail is included because that process isn't set up.
6) When I go in to manually update the user record, I can't save it without the name.

If this is the case, it seems it might be a JFB error. Shouldn't it abort the registration process if the end user says no to sharing their data?

If anyone can offer a solution to this, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,

We'll do some testing, but yes, JFBConnect has multiple checks to ensure that a user is properly logged into Facebook and has approved your application. There's always a chance we missed something though.

Can you let me know a few other things:
* Do you have any "Required" fields in the Community Builder profile? Generally, this is ok, but we just helped a user who had a required field, which wasn't being mapped in JFBConnect and didn't have a default value set for it. In this case, the user's profile didn't seem complete to CB, and therefore, couldn't be saved.
* What is the setting you have in JFBConnect for "User Creation"? Full Joomla User or Facebook Only?

We'll start testing some things soon, and let you know what we find.

Our required fields are name, firstname, lastname, email, username, password, forum order and forum view. Not sure what the last two are. Their tab is under forum, which is red in color. The rest are under contact info.

User creation is Full Joomla User.

Our settings under Profile/Data permissions are Yes, No, No.

Hope that helps. Thanks for looking into it.

We're doing some testing, but this is an odd one. We'll let you know what we find and wanted to let you know we're looking into it.

One last question, did you ever upgrade from a 2.x version of JFBConnect or have you always been on 3.0. Sorry for all the questions.

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure I started with 2.x. Our site went live mid-August, so I'm not sure. The server dates some of the files in the component directory at 7/24, so my guess is 2.x.

Also, if it helps, I might be able to ask one of the people who experienced the error some questions. Not sure how much help that would be though.

Just wanted to get back in touch with you. We've been testing every way we can, and we can't recreate some of the things you mention above. From here, we'd ask if you could at least send us a link to your site, and if you're ok with it, a super admin account so we can look at and recreate all of your settings on a development machine.

We've configured our JFBConnect similar to how you mention above, and think CB is the same. When we try to log into our development site, we get 2 popups (as expected). The first is for permission for name, email and 'basic' information. The second is for extended profile information- to import into CB. If we deny the first permission box, we're simply returned to the page we tried to login from. If we deny the 2nd box, we are allowed to proceed to registration. This is normal because the "Require Profile Data Permissions:" is set to No. If that was Yes, then there would only be one permission popup with all permissions in it.

After we register, even though we denied the 2nd pop up, the Joomla user has it's Full Name correctly filled out from the FB information. CB also has the Name, username, and email fields correctly filled out. We're able to 'save' this user without making any alterations.

With our situation noted, this is where it becomes important to see your configuration because either something isn't working properly with JFBConnect, or there's some settings in JFBConnect and CB that we haven't tested yet.

Finally, I looked back through the other thread you've posted in, and noticed this was a problem back in August as well. Was this ever cleared up over this time, or has this been a constant issue? Know that answer may help us determine a cause and solution:

I'll send you an admin login. I thought we'd fixed the problem with the updates, but apparently not. The problem is that it only happens occasionally and the people who use are site aren't very internet saavy to trying to identify what they did is next to impossible. Like I had said, the only clue is that the first/last name fields are blank on the users getting the e-mail. That and the e-mail their receiving says click a link to confirm and the link isn't there.
