Hi there
After scratching my head and doubting my reading capabilities I needed to learn that my instructions were obsolete.
In Facebook, there are now only five tabs on the left. The "Connect" Tab is gone. Instead, I have found out that the former "connect URL" is now the "Site URL" under the "Website" tab.
Now, having inserted all this information and configured the API key etc accordingly in JFB, and having waited for more than an hour if there was a delay in the propagation, I still get the error:

WARNING: POSSIBLE MISCONFIGURATION
We suggest updating your Connect URL to: mysitenameisenteredhere.net/
You can do this by visiting: Facebook Developers
Select your application->Edit Settings->Connect URL in the Connect section

I am now of course asking myself if that change on behalf of Facebook has any effect on JFB so there has something to be ammended?

Please advice asap :-)

Kind regards
Manfred

Which instruction guide were you following? The 3.x guide has been updated as of earlier this month to reflect the changes that Facebook made to their developer portal. It's definitely much cleaner now, and we're thankful for that:
www.sourcecoast.com/jfbconnect/docs/configuration-guide

Now, regarding your issue, above the error message you copied, there should be a line that says "Connect URL: http.....". Does this URL match exactly what we're recommending? Basically, we look at the URL you are currently on, and match it to the Connect URL. This is similar to what Facebook does to ensure that requests made from your Application are not spoofed from another URL. Facebook, in the past has made the distinction that www.yourdomain.com and yourdomain.com are 2 separate URLs, which has caused some problems.

To work around this problem, they recently introduced the "Base Domain" setting, which, if you put 'yourdomain.com' into this field, then, to Facebook, www.yourdomain.com and yourdomain.com again become 'the same'. Hopefully this is clear.

In short, if you can, we suggest updating the Site URL to the URL we recommend. However, if you have your Base Domain setup properly, you should be able to ignore this warning as long as the Connect URL does resolve to your site (www or no www).

Finally, normally, application changes propagate within seconds, so you should notice any changes immediately.

Thanks for your quick and comprehensive response, Alex

Now, as for the instructions, I used the one from this page:
www.sourcecoast.com/joomla-facebook/
Where the JFBConnect Configuration Guide is still referring to ther old settings (see step 2: www.sourcecoast.com/jfbconnect/docs/configuration-guide )
----
Now as for the connection problem:
You were perfectly right! I have the custom never to use 'www' unless it is required. But in my facebook app I for some reasons added it in the Site URL... Once removed, things work fine.

Many thanks
I will leave a review too.

Cheerio

Thanks for pointing that out. The guide you were looking at is the older 2.x guide. We still leave it up as some users are on it, but we've updated the title to say 2.x now.

If you aren't sure of a setting in 3.0, make sure you look at this guide. Much of the information from that other guide won't be accurate for 3.0:
www.sourcecoast.com/jfbconnect/docs/configuration-guide

Thanks, and good luck!
