I'm not sure if I've really identified the problem here or if I'm explaining it well.

I do not have e-mail confirmation turned on in Community Builder. When someone creates an account using Facebook, it's creating an error saying the e-mail address and user are not confirmed. I don't think it's affecting their ability to log-in, but they can't edit their accounts.

I think my question is, "Can e-mail addresses be set to confirmed when accounts are created using this module?"

I'm using 2.6. I'm willing to update to 3.0 if it solved that problem, but I'm not sure which modules/components/plugs are necessary vs. new features and whether uninstallation is necessary.

Upgrading shouldn't be necessary to fix this issue and I don't believe you'd see any difference (regarding this problem) if you did.

There's a few things that would help if you could check in your configuration for Joomla, CB, and JFBConnect. Playing with these settings should fix your issues:

In Joomla's Global Configuration->System tab, set "New User Account Activation" to "No"
In JFBConnect's Community Builder Integration tab, set "Skip CB Activation:" to "Yes"
In Community Builder's, Configuration->Registration tab, try turning "Require Admin Approval" and "Require Email Confirmation" off (if they are already, good)

This should disable all activation of emails and for any users, whether through JFBConnect or registering for a normal Joomla/CB account. If you want to still enable activation for normal Joomla users but not Facebook users, you should just be able to do the first step and 2nd steps above.

Hope this helps.

Ok. I checked all of this and everything appears to be set properly. Still having problems. I think I've narrowed down the issue though.

When someone is creating an account using Facebook, it's not creating a First Name or Last name entry in Community Builder. When they click on their name, they get an error that they need to be approved by a moderator. When I go into the back end and open their account and then close it, I get an error that a first and last name are necessary. When I add their name, the become validated without me doing anything else.

Could the variable be getting passed incorrectly?

It could be, but shouldn't. A missing first/last name though would definitely cause this type of problem.

I'd suggest trying to upgrade to JFBConnect 3.0RC2 (just released), it's pretty darn stable now, and if you needed to, you could downgrade back to 2.6.x. It also lets you take advantage of all the social plugins included with the 3.x release.

If you really want to stay on 2.6.2, which is fine, please create us a super admin account and PM us the details so we can get in and bug-hunt. You can PM us by hitting the down arrow next to my name to the left and clicking the mail icon. We're still fully behind the 2.6 releases and will come out with updated releases as necessary.

Thanks!

To upgrade I just need to install the connect component and login module, right? The others are options I can add on later?

Also, it appears I need to uninstall 2.6 first. Will that affect the linking that my users already have in place?

Yes, the process is generally to uninstall and reinstall. We'll be using the upgrade method more in the future (so you just have to install without uninstalling first). All settings will be retained in the database, but you should go through and verify settings as there are plenty of new ones in JFBConnect 3.0. A quick upgrade guide can be found:
www.sourcecoast.com/extensions/jfbconnec...onnect-upgrade-guide

As for the other extensions, yup. You can add those as you please. The only ones required for operation are the component, Login Module, and the User and Authorization plugins. These are all automatically installed (or upgraded) when you install the JFBConnect 3.0 component.

Mahboba,
Please post from the account you subscribed from. Priority support is for subscribers only.

Finally, when you post from that account, please let us know (or Private Message us) the URL of your site and the version of JFBConnect you're using. This post is over a year old, so it's difficult to know your configuration, and likely, the solution to your problem will be very different than what's posted above.

Thanks,
Alex
