Hello,

We have a fresh install on our site of the component and login module. We have come across a problem when trying to connect, after the Facebook Username and Email is entered. The screen directs us to a page saying:

"extended permissions required and not accessed"

Essentially it looks as though requesting the permissions to access email addresses is not working correctly with the system. With this being the case after the page reloads, it then crashes the site with the message:

Illegal variable _files or _env or _get or _post or _cookie or _server or _session or globals passed to script.

Both problems seem to stem from a bad request for permissions to facebook. Please help us solve this problem as your product is seemingly great, but we cannot solve this issue.

-Matt

That's not good... or right, obviously. Can you send us (or PM if you'd not like it to be public) a link to your site? Never seen or heard of that issue, but Facebook updated their permission requirements on July 1st, so it's possible there's some wonkiness (technical term) going on.

Some other questions off the top of my head:
When a user clicks the FB Connect button and the first permissions dialog come up, what permissions is it asking for (usually nothing, email, and/or wall posting)
Do you have the "Require Email Permissions" radio button selected in the back-end?
Was your FB application just created, or was it created before July 1st

Thanks!

/EDIT: I should add I did nothing more than enter the API key and Secret. It is a blank website at the moment.

/EDIT: Incorrect API key/secret combo was the cause for me

So is this working for you now? Hopefully so, cause we didn't know the solution, and we never heard back from the user above with a similar issue. Would love to be able to recommend "Check your FB API key settings" in the future.

Thanks for the update!

Yup it's working.

Kinda of embarrassing actually - I had entered my Application ID instead of my API key... hopefully it helps anyone else who encounters this error.

I had the same issue on my joomla 1.7 with jomsocial 2.2.4 - when i try to invite friends link, it takes a long time for it show list - too long.
So i closed out the box by clicking on the x in the corner - this is what caused the error in chrome at least for me - when i deleted my cache in the browser - everything worked fine. I started internet explorer and that was working okay without clearing cache.

Ghog,
Need a big more information to help you. What version of JFBConnect are you using? Were you upgrading from an older version? Are you using the profile plugins to integrate with any other extensions?

Finally, please post from the account you subscribed from. Priority support is for subscribers only.

Rayres88,
There's multiple solutions to this problem, and we haven't heard of it from any users who are up to date with JFBConnect. Please make sure you're running version 4.0.3.

If you still have issues, we'll gladly help you get to the bottom of them. However, please post from the account that you subscribed to JFBConnect from. Priority support is for subscribers only.

Thanks,
Alex
