jwvr,
The usermap area of JFBConnect doesn't show the user's avatar from JomSocial. Seeing it there is good, but it doesn't really tell us why it's not showing in JomSocial.

Can you check the following:
* In the Profiles area of JFBConnect that the "Import Avatar" setting is enabled. I'm sure it is, but I have to ask.
* The /images/avatar and /tmp directories in Joomla are writable. Those are where the avatars are saved at different points, and if Joomla can't write to those, that would be part of the problem.

Beyond that, I'm not sure what would be causing the avatars not to save. In that case, could you:
* Let me know if you're testing with existing users, or if this happens on a new registration of a user as well.
* If you go to Configuration -> Misc and set "Enable Debugging" to "Yes", are there any messages that appear when trying to login?

Let me know, and we'll get you going once we narrow things down more.

Thanks,
Alex

Dear Alex,

This is the status:

Can you check the following:
* In the Profiles area of JFBConnect that the "Import Avatar" setting is enabled. I'm sure it is, but I have to ask.

This one is enabled.

* The /images/avatar and /tmp directories in Joomla are writable. Those are where the avatars are saved at different points, and if Joomla can't write to those, that would be part of the problem.

/images/avatar rights are rwx r-x r-x There is non avatar from facebook inside only the one from google+

/tmp directory is also writable. In this are the cover picture from facebook etc.

Beyond that, I'm not sure what would be causing the avatars not to save. In that case, could you:
* Let me know if you're testing with existing users, or if this happens on a new registration of a user as well.

It is on existing users as well on new registrations. I will add some examples

On the sc login screen above I have my avatar from FB but not in the jomsocial template and user overview.

One with the avatar is goolge+ the one with the cover is FB

Dear Alex,

did some research.

in the images/avatars/ dir only the avatar of google+ are stored there. not the one of FB. after 01-10-2013

so no I have to figure out what has this been.

Could it be the October 2013 Breaking Changes facebook.

because an other app is still working okay and quick. with almost the same config. only this on has October 2013 Breaking ChangesEnabled

The October Breaking changes migration isn't related and will be auto-enabled for all apps very soon (if not already). That wouldn't be the cause.

Let's start at the beginning then. Can you check the temp directory for your site (usually /tmp) and see if there are files with names like scprofile_123_pic_tmp.jpg ? The 123 is the Joomla ID for the user, so you should be able to check a picture against a specific user on your site by looking up their ID. See if the picture loads for you (download it or load it in a browser) and that it isn't 0-bytes.

Let me know if the image is at least being downloaded. From there, we can start narrowing down which portion of the flow is failing.

Thanks,
Alex

I'm still at a bit of a loss as to why the avatars wouldn't be pulled properly. Can you tell me if this is one of the slow sites you mentioned here . That could help explain things if there's a timeout occurring while downloading the avatar. That could cause sluggishness *and* prevent the avatar from downloading.

It wouldn't explain why, but may help bring us closer to a a cause.

Also, in your picture, you say that scprofile_1109_pic_tmp.jpg is not there, but it is showing in your image at 24kb. Are you saying that's really from Google+ or did you miss that one?

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex,

The problem with the avatar, I have that on all the 4 sites.

the scprofile_1109_pic_tmp.jpg is a google+ user.

I will send you the sites so you can see the difference.

some are test and 2 are productions.

On one site i got once an avatar today. (but why i do not no)

Thanks for the information.

Can you let me know the following:
* Are all of those sites on the same server, or are they on different hosts?
* Do you have any other extensions that are meant to integrate with social networks on those sites? I see JomSocial, but I'm assuming the Facebook integration in those is disabled. Any others?

It's interesting that the 2 dev sites load fast and the 2 production sites load slow as well. There has to be some difference in there that would help explain the problem, just not sure what.

Finally, the avatar thing is still stumping me, especially since the cover photo imports. I'm not sure what that is, but let me know the answers to the 2 questions above and we'll go from there.

Thanks,
Alex
