some of my logged in users have been logging in as fb_xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx where the x's stand for any digit (number).

Like for instance fb_100001800052521.

Why is this happening? Shouldn't JFBconnect get their real user names?

Also is there any possiblity to have SCLogin show the real long user's name instead of the short joomla login username?

Thanks,

Peter,
In the JFBConnect Configuration area is a setting for "Auto Username Prefix". That sounds like it's set to fb_/g_, which will be the first letters of the social network followed by their social network ID. Change that to firlas or first.last to have the username set to something more normal looking.

In the SCLogin module, in the Logout parameters, is a setting for "Greeting". Change that to "Real Name" instead of Username, if that's what you'd like to show.

I hope that helps,
Alex

Thanks for the information.

What should I do to have only the social ID to be used without any predix at all?

The SCLogin one is fixed thanks. I just wish I could make the avatar smaller. :-)

Cheers

There's no setting for just using the ID, and we wouldn't recommend doing it anyways. First, the ID is unique to each social network, but there's always the chance that a Facebook User ID and a Google, or Twitter, or some other network we add in the future will be the same. That's why we need something specific to each network to use that ID.

I'd recommend using one of the other options, or, if you have another preference of what you'd like to use, let me know. We can help you implement something if necessary.

There's a width and height setting in the module. You should be able to use that to resize the image. If it's not working, let me know.

Thanks,
Alex

OK, let me just ask you this because it is giving me a huge headache! Should the user want to login in a scenario where facebook is down or not available due to proxy restrictions, whatever. How can he login? (note: my present scenario - albeit a temporary one - is to automatically login, register and let the user in instantly if facebook is on in the same browser)

What if he has a Google account and suddenly he decides to login with that. Will he be logged and registered as a new user? What of all the footprints he'd already left on JomSocial with his other account?

Well I've given it the square 50x50 pix size but it comes out huge anyway.

Thanks in advance for your support.

If you have the "Generate Password" setting enabled in JFBConnect, the user will have a Joomla account that they can login with as well. They will be emailed their user credentials on registration and they can login with either those credentials or the social network they logged in with.

There's an "Automatically Link User by Email" setting in JFBConnect. If the user is logging in on another social network that has the same email address, their accounts will be automatically 'connected'. Alternatively, the SCLogin module can show a "Connect?" button with the social networks they haven't yet connected with.. this will link the accounts as well.

Not sure why that's happening. What type of image are you loading? A Joomla extension image (JomSocial, Kunena, etc) or a social network one - Facebook or Google? Is the image showing up square, or is it a long rectangle?

Thanks,
Alex
